Imagine the number of fans who sat up excited tonight. Remember the optimism yesterday after the Santon signing? I don't think my spirits had been this high as a toon fan since Hughton led us to that run of wins 10 months ago. Just like the events that followed that euphoric month, what happened tonight has brought all that down. Our board are inept, and we keep making excuses for them. If it's true that Ashley runs this club as a business, surely even he could see that we would recoup the cash spent on a quality striker by finishing a good few places up the league. That was the only piece missing from our jigsaw, and it could have completely changed our season. But at the end of the day, I suppose as a diehard toon fan under the Ashley regime, I should prepare myself for disapointment.

I'm not even surprised anymore. It's just depressing.

Agree with everything you've just wrote!

The thing is we will still buy shirts, go to the games and remain loyal to the team, why? 'cause we're the greatest fans around and can't turn our back on the team. It's just like January, we "tried" to get N'zogbia but lets be honest, we probably knew we wouldn't get him but Ashley had to make it look like we wanted to replace Carroll.

I'm so sick and tired, pissed off and feel cheated by the lot of them, but like you, i should've knew i would end up disappointed, and look whats happend.

It just defies belief that we've failed in 7 months to invest any of that £35 million in a striker! I would have taken bloody Bentdner at the end of today, but we couldn't even secure a loan deal! I want to find the quote form Pardew following the Carroll sale when he said "ALL of the £35mil would be invested in PLAYERS." Then they spin us a story about how the money must go towards "Agents fees, training facilities!" Now we're condemned to midtable mediocrity, when thus season could have been so much better!

Pardew has said beofre he would not panic buy. He said it has happened far to often at NUFC and would wait until January if the right player isnt available

the thing is, the right player has been available on numerous occasions. Arsenal signed 3 players today, 3 quality players yet we manage to sign 0 after having been linked to so many. Disgraceful. I feel sorry for Pardew, he's the one going to have to take all the stick and face the media whereas its Ashley and Llambias to blame.

Biggest guarantee of deadline day Newcastle fans will be disappointed. Don't suppose Ashley or Llambias read this or care what I think but just incase they do please do the honorable thing and sell the club as you clearly don't care.

Ive had enough. I love our new signings - Marv, Cabaye, Santon. But in the end we have a poor squad whilst clubs like Blackburn sign Dann, Fulham sign Ruiz, QPR sign Barton and some other EPL quality players, Stoke sign some decent players. This year we will be challenging them. I reckon that if we qualify for Europe, more players will be attracted to us - Ruiz went to Fulham because of Europe, no doubt. we could have at least signed Yakubu or someone like that. Kakuta/ PVA would have been nice on loan, but Llambias cannot stump up enough wages for these guys. It can't be long before the geordie nation gets too mad and murders him! Im not joking! Ive felt like this before! Im ****ing mad (im not gonna murder him, dont you worry!)

Agreed, it really isn't Pardews fault. He gave the board his list of targets. They didn't deliver. We won't be in too much trouble admittedly. But a season of mid-table mediocrity could have been so much more

It's depressing that we are being left behind by the likes of Stoke, Fulham and Villa simply because of our lack of ambition.

Also if Ashley is running the club as a business surely and £8 million+ striker is a must. Not only will it bring a higher league position (£££££), it would also give the fans a boost and attendances would improve by a couple of thousand per game (£££££).
