I'm talking about since we were incorporated as a professional football team (1904). I would guess between 35-40. You have to list their names and their nationalities. One name per nationality only. The granny/grandad rule is ok to use too. For example, if someone was born in say England, or played for an National team based on family heritage, it's legit to mention their adopted nationality so long as their original heritage roots are mentioned, but they can only be used ONCE. It's legit to use sub-nationalities and their pre-breakup names to segregate entries: e.g. Yugoslavia counts as one entry, as would Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzogovenia etc. Two entries for the same player would be void. Obviously U.K, would only be England, Scotland, Wales & N. Ireland. Territories are ok if they still exist as they have some sovereignty. Countries or territories that used to exist at the time a particular player was with HCAFC is also legit. The deadline for submission is September 15th. Copy & paste others punters previous entries and add your new entries to your copy. Only ONE ENTRY per participant allowed. This test may favour old farts if their memories are still sound. Young buggers know how to use t'internet and search engines to do their research - so should be a trade off. Honour & glory only- peer admiration is a big boost to the ego. No cash involved. Get to it. P.S. I'll be pissed off if this has already been done on Not606 already, yet there'll be a few additions since then no doubt. Edit: On reflection it seems like a pain in the arse to do this. I predict one entrant I'd like to think the count gets to 45 + nationalities over 114 years of existance. NOTE: Anyone who edits their original post after 24 hours of their original post will have the edited version nullified, hence disqualified. I expect most if not all entries will appear just before 11 p.m. GMT on Sept 14th.
Will be more than you think, particularly over the last decade. You need to clarify if you mean countries recognised by the UN or Overseas territories like Cayman Islands.
Think about it. It's not such a big deal. Had you entered the names, it would have been an appropriate post. Don't resign old chap. I'd feel guilty.
At certain times we have had little contingents of foriegn players, first was Whitmore and Goodison from Jamaica, all the French speakers Zayatte (Guinea), Cousin (Gabon), Ghilas (Algeria), Mendy (Fra), then the Irish contingent and a Scottish one.
He isn't Caymanian. That was an attempt by an agent and the Cayman Football Association to find a loophole in the FIFA qualifying rules which meant a person with a UK passport (Or a "British" passport as the OT's are British) was qualified to play for an overseas territory. FIFA clamped down on it immediately and he only played in one qualifier, against Cuba.
All 64 players and who they played for (there's no Mexicans)... http://boothferrytowembley.blogspot.com/p/nations.html
