Personally more concerned with our defence , two goals away from home is fine , come back Frankie all is forgiven
Bolton fans on here are mostly pleased with the point considering we dominated the game: https://www.ja606.co.uk/comments/viewAllComments/394577 Even more complimentary on here: https://the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26819&start=100#p1060408 Some are moaning about the ref but they are reallly complimentary about us - one says it was ‘men vs boys’. They also acknowledge we should have had a penalty. Positive signs - from an opposition angle so unbiased.
To quote Bolton fan Peter Thompson on the Wanderers forum (linked above): ‘Serious question not a wind up or anything - player for player are Bristol City that much better than us in terms of their players being very comfortable on the ball, being much quicker, much more energetic, more physical, moving the ball a lot quicker and their players generally looking a division or so higher than ours - have they spend millions or is there manager better tactically ? Because I actually thought that they were missing a few of their best players & had sold a really good LB - I didn't expect that today from them, but they seriously impressed me today in how they played football on the front foot for the full 90 mins, they ran rings round us for the majority of the game.’
After the shambolic performance there last season and given we were 2-0 down, I'm happy with a point. But far sterner tests lie ahead than Bolton.
R&W - I think Bolton had even less possession last week at West Brom and yet won. Any point in the Championship away is very welcome.
I have mixed feelings as this game was very winnable, but at 2-0 down you'd take the draw. 2 points from the opening 2 games is a little underwhelming, but a win against Boro next week and 5 points from 3 would be a good start. Unfortunately I think another draw is likely.
I’m looking forward to see how we play when Diedhiou returns with Weimann in behind like Reid last year, as RR says bit powder puff up front. However I can see once we get Eisa with a bit more minutes behind him challenging Diedhiou for that sort of role and Taylor then challenging Weimann. So we can at least have competition unlike last season. Eisa and Taylor will hopefully start against Plymouth to get some game time. Reading some really good reports on Marley Watkins performance when he came on yesterday. Elliasson and Hunt still improving and Kelly looking comfortable as well. It’s Baker that seems to be not at the races just yet, but that could be because it’s a new partnership. And to think, we’ve started both games now without most peoples first name on the sheet last season Korey Smith. Hopefully the futures bright, player wise just be nice to get a win.
Do you think the fact Korey is out of contract next summer has anything to do with him being benched? Maybe it is a way to put a bit of pressure on him if he's refusing a new contract.
I doubt it - I think it's just a case of 3 into 2 don't go & he's been the casualty so far. Hardly like Pack & Brownhill are inferior players getting preferential treatment is it? Plenty of games to come so depth is key.
