The bug positive for me is that Hughes realised that his tactics weren't working and switched things around. We wouldn't have seen that under MP2.
I'm happy for Sparky and his coaches to work it out for themselves. He proved yesterday that he is adaptable and not stubborn when he sees something is clearly not right and will not leave substitutions until they are too late to affect the game.
Very few are really ITK....they might have got one thing right once, then guess like the rest of us. They are not all happy....we could have guessed that. And I wouldn't be surprised if some are trying to get a move...JWP, Targett and Forster spring to mind. OK to keep them if they are going to feature, but perhaps they doubt they will be. Am I in the know....of course not, but I could have phrased it as if I knew.
Was Ings always so good with the ball at his feet, passing etc? Or is that the one good thing those few seasons with Liverpool did for him.
A few of my thoughts on the game, pretty much the same as everybody else. Hopefully thats the last time we will see a first half like that Cedric is a RB in a flat four, he is not a wing back which is strange because he does have the pace to go past most LBs, but prefers to carry the ball 10 yards and then pass it back to the CBs. If playing 3 CBs I would replace him with Targett, JWP, Ely, Redmond , Reed, or Valery take your pick. In Vestergaard, we seem to another fans fav, a new killer Ings played really deep, but was pulling the strings, had a couple of chances once we finally put some crosses in Elyounoussi looked the part, good delivery and finally someone apart from JWP that can take a corner Armstrong OKish, quiet in a bad all round first half, but looked the most likely to create something Good to finally have a manager that makes changes early Looking forward to the Everton game, should be a true test
The Skate curse caused the lino to have temporary blindness when Mee trod all over Danny's ankle in the box near the end yesterday...
Advance notice for next thread :- Saturday 18th August 2018 Everton v Southampton Kick-off 15:00 BST Referee: Lee Mason Assistants: Darren Cann, Derek Eaton Fourth official: Andre Marriner
Was Cork onside? Looked very close. Mee on Ings was a pen for me, so that's 1-1 on the noVAR scale. Man that count is going to shoot up over the next 37 games!
It's possible that VAR would have awarded their goal, but there were two players offside who whilst not involved in the goal could be said to be distracting the keeper. Whatever...let's say it's even.
