Now that we have made it past deadline day we have a pretty good idea of who we have for the season ahead (Barring perhaps another Centre back, Centre Forward or Wide player joining on loan in the next week) Just a bit of fun to look back on next May: League Position: 10th Total Points: 68 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson (10) Player of the season Grant Ward Surprise of the Season: Winning an FA cup match (Making 5th Round) Flop of the season: Jordan Roberts (Curse of the Winger strikes again. Will be gone this time next year) Average attendance: 19,158 Any other metrics anyone wants to add then please feel free and I will update my predictions accordingly
Well this thread could lead to several chuckles come May. League Position: 15th Total Points: 56 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson (9) Player of the season Gwion Edwards Surprise of the Season: I'm going to be negative here and say that we still don't manage to beat Norwich this season. Some supporters seem to think it's a given. And then a couple of new ones, if you fancy them: Flop of the season: Cole Skuse. Personally I think he'll struggle in Hurst's new system, but he will be retained for the sake of experience until finally being dropped. Average attendance: 18,450
League Position: 9th Total Points: 64 Leading Goalscorer: Harrison(15) Player of the season Edwards/Nolan (double figure assists each of them) Surprise of the Season: Being top 6 come January Flop of the season: Nsiala Average attendance: 18,000
League Position: 6th Total Points: 77 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson (23) Player of the season Luke Woolfenden Surprise of the Season: Sign a £3m + player ( January transfer window ) Flop of the season: The caterers ( Pie shortage until November ) Average attendance: 20,200
League Position: 5th Total Points: 76 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson Player of the season Jackson Surprise of the Season: Lampard sacked by Christmas. Flop of the season: Bishop Average attendance: 18556
Revised: League Position: 14th Total Points: 58 Leading Goalscorer: Nolan (8) Player of the season Nolan Surprise of the Season: No surprises Flop of the season: Roberts (Leap frogged by superior signings) Average attendance: 16,338
League Position: 17th Total Points: 54 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson (13) Player of the season Nolan/Edwards Surprise of the Season: Beating Norwich at Carrot Road Flop of the season: Knudsen Average attendance: 16587
Crikey you cannot change your mind! Going to change it again after another 3 games!? Mine ( if allowed as late ) League Position: 17th Total Points: 53 Leading Goalscorer: Jackson, 12 Player of the season Jackson - think will be good when it clicks. Surprise of the Season: Bart having a worse season - cannot keep doing it each year. Flop of the season: Donacien. Average attendance: 16,852
You were right about the Portman Road catering - still rubbish. And Woolfenden could be Player of the Year ... at Swindon? Less said about that predicted play off spot though.
Maybe run a separate one from 1st January. It's quite interesting reading back on our thoughts in September, you could feel the optimism coming through the screen.. 2 months is a very long time in football
I have to say I am a bit happier now we are all more or less united. The divisiveness of the Keane / Jewell / McCarthy / Hurst debacle has been wearing. At least now we all agree we’re screwed.
Alright Mr Change your mind I did put Bart as flop of the season, not like you to pick up on one post I've put!!!
With relegation confirmed, let's all take a moment to laugh at our collective optimism and blind oversights.
We all got flop of the season correct. What we didn't realise was that we could have named anybody in the squad in that category!
