One year of big spending isn't the same as doing it year on year with an already established squad of players
They didn't need to boo. Mourinho instantly reverted to anti-football at 1-0 and killed off the supporters excitement for the season within 10 minutes. By half time they were chanting "this is a library" and fans from the opposite side of the stadium could call Mourinho a **** at normal speaking volume.
The team has always felt the weight of expectation from the fans. The fact that the media are bowling in is just because of the amount of money spent, but that is disregarding the ridiculous amount of inflation since the Neymar transfer. A couple of years ago eyebrows would have been raised if we'd paid £30m for VvD, Alisson would have cost about £20- £25m. The market has gone berserk. It's not a question of how much money we've spent - leave that to the critics and wums - it's whether or not we've got the players we need. Just throwing money at it would never make us challengers, there's far more to it than that. As long as we continue to play the way we have been going forward, and tighten up at the back, Klopp will get no criticism from me.
Liverpool v West Ham United: Team news “The scan was clear. It was only a check-up and the scan was clear, but he felt ill when he came back so we sent him home again,” Klopp said of the midfielder at his pre-match press conference on Friday. “Obviously he was not feeling really well so we sent him home again and I didn’t see him so far and I didn’t ask anybody, so we will see.” James Milner is likely to be available after receiving 15 stitches in the head wound he sustained in the 5-0 friendly win over Napoli in Dublin last weekend, while the manager is considering how to use Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson after their returns from World Cup duty. Dejan Lovren – who reached the final with Croatia – is ruled out, however. Minor issues could influence Klopp’s selections in central defence, with Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip carrying injuries of varying degrees. “Ragnar, no real chance, he didn’t train. Joel did yesterday parts of training like Joe did – we will see how they are today,” added the boss in his chat with the med Andy Carroll (ankle), Manuel Lanzini (knee) and Winston Reid (knee) are long-term absentees for the Hammers, while Edimilson Fernandes has a ‘slight problem’. But Manuel Pellegrini has an otherwise full squad to choose from. “The difficult thing is when you don’t have options,” he said. “The players know I have to pick a starting XI but they also know you need a strong squad and not just a team to be successful in the Premier League. “You need two players in each position and they need to train hard for every game, then it is my decision to pick the starting XI.” Last time out Liverpool v Torino, August 7: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Van Dijk, Moreno, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino. West Ham v Angers SCO, August 3: Fabianski, Fredericks, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Antonio, Arnautovic, Chicharito. Bookies are famous for putting a personal dislike for whinging football managers ahead of profitable odds. Oh, wait...
The endless bowing to TV schedules is a #joke Next season Man Utd will play the final day of the PL on their own so they know what result they need for top 4 and Sky can have 24 hours buildup for it.
So Lovren has come out and said he’s been playing through injury for a while and could be out for a long time but didn’t think to tell the club until after the window?
given we knew about it last season too... well klopp made his mind up. same about klavan he almost left for Newcastle.on deadline day... clearly klopp ain't worried.
