So I see Matej Vydra has signed for Burnley. A good move for both parties, imo. Paving the way for Waghorn to join Derby from Ipswich.
Rhodes has shown good qualities both before and after arriving, in total contrast to the things said about him. The key will lie in whether he and our other attacking players can match and then exceed the goals scored by Oliveira, Maddison and Murphy. I think they can, for the reason SW points out: “That was one thing, at times last year, that we needed a moment of magic from a player such as James to get us a result. He did that for us and we’re grateful for that but the onus can’t be on one person, we need to be a better team and a better team of individuals.”

It certainly is tenuous, though I think Klose is happy here. Doesn't the Window close later in Europe???
We can still sell for the rest of the month, so for players like Oliveira there's less of a rush to get him out the door today. For Klose, we'd need to be offered serious money and be able to sign a replacement today for that to make sense.
Would you care to explain why you wouldn't give Godfrey his chance???? Zimmerman I believe can also play at CB and several times last season got MotM.
Nick Mashiter @nickmashiter A bloated squad at Norwich - over 30 pros - still needs to be trimmed. A successful deadline day (even though it isn't really one) would be a few outs at Carrow Road. #ncfc
Godfrey has never played CB consistently at a higher level than league 2. I rate him, and clearly Farke thinks he can do a job at CB and DM, but it's very early to make him a core member of the starting XI. Based on last season he's earned the right to opportunities to impress at DM. He's not done enough at CB yet to put that level of trust in (and equally pressure on) him. A squad needs 4 CBs really. We have Klose, Hanley, Zimmerman, Godfrey and Martin. Should we sell Klose, we have very little cover for injuries, and would struggle to field a 3 CB formation without putting Martin on the bench. One injury would make that impossible.
A somewhat surprising rumour from Nick Mashiter, the club would listen to offers for Vrancic. I think we could afford to lose a midfielder, I'd be surprised if Vrancic was top of that list.
Farke still hasn't found his first 11, Krul has only played 1 competitive game and the defence wasn't great against Brum. I would rather he starts with a strong 11 and bring on players like Godfrey later If we are winning. It's not as if they need a rest and getting knocked out of the cups early will not be good for confidence and lessen our chances of some TV revenue later on . The Arsenal and Chelsea games were exciting even though we lost both and must have brought in a few quid. We are always being reminded that we are broke so staying in all competitions should be a priority.
Do you honestly think if we have players like Godfrey, Thompson, Cantwell, Aaron’s the opportunity to play against Stevenage that we would lose? I think they’d give just as good account of themselves as the first team.
We don't know who our first 11 are yet and if good enough players will break through like Lewis did last season. As I mentioned if we are winning like you think will be a formality bring on the youth players for experience for the second half.
Some excellent posts and I can see that playing Godfrey as a first choice CB is rather risky and if we had any significant injuries, we COULD be forced to have Martin in the squad!!
He's been a great servant bla bla bla we have also given him a massive pot of cash a flash car and a big house , if he wants to become part of the coaching set up then great but I don't want to see him playing for us again. If he was any good Rangers would have kept him but he made tons of cock ups and lost his place up there too.
I agree with DD. Whilst there's room for a couple of experiments Vs Stevenage, it's more important that Farke understands his first choice side, and we start to build successful partnerships all over the pitch. For me, I think trying Aarons in the problematic LB position is worth a gamble, or giving Lewis as much time on the pitch as he's capable of. Thompson to play to rest Tettey, and because we need to know how viable that will be in league games. Otherwise if I were Farke I'd treat it like a league game, with perhaps more of those youth options on the bench than usual.
If, as reported, Vrancic is available, then with Oliveira, Pinto, Martin and Mathews also likely to be leaving in all liklihood, that trims the squad to 25, which is much more realistic.
May I remind the honourable gentleman of the debacle against Luton - a non league side at the time - in the F A Cup not so long ago
