https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/aug/08/premier-league-preview-southampton Guardian has us finishing 12th....they point out that this is the average of the opinion of their pundits. Wow, that suggests that someone may have placed us higher than 12th!! Mini-facto....Vestergaard is scared of spiders. Big ninny.
I saw Vestergaard in Ocean Village the other evening and he's a bit of a dish. I'd happily help remove any spiders if he would just ask me.
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-08-08/southampton-fans-end-of-season-survey-improvement-work List of improvements made to the fan experience at matches. The two changes that I like are carts to provide decent coffee and tea (hurrah) though would like the tea cart separate because it is fussy blooming coffee that holds everyone else up and a panini in the food choice (because there is nothing I would ever eat at the ground otherwise). Will give both things a go to encourage them. A good idea (worth trialling) is selling beer tokens to speed up beer purchase at half time.
I am quite happy with the very lovely Mrs Godders flask of Bovril and round of cheese and pickle sandwiches.
Another idea would be to have change preselected and ready to go. I once bought a half-time hot dog and the guy took (I kid you not) around two minutes to open up his bum bag, take out a plastic bag and root around inside it for change, give it to me then reseal his bum bag, all the time wearing his food service plastic gloves. Yet another idea would be to have people at the food counters rapidly fulfilling orders while someone else sorts out the cash. Because of crappy systems like this I never eat food at the ground. Some days I would like to but we avoid it. Vin
Th beer tokens will not speed anything up. Training of the staff would. The beer is ready, 50% of payments are with cards now - contactless and still there is a queue. I normally drink wine, so all they have to do is pick up a plastic cup (yuk for wine), pick up the single serve wine and pour. I pay contactless. The whole process still takes in excess of a minute and a half. Also what Vin said made me laugh about the gloves - I ordered a hot dog and he did the same - I waited for my change, while he rummaged around with the blue 'food gloves' inside his bum bag and game me the change. I said "what about the gloves?" he replied "Oh I have to wear them for hygiene reasons"....
Because I purchased my season ticket last week, I have to sit in 2 other seats for the first 2 games.
They need to watch The Founder. McDonalds food might be sh1t, but my goodness those brothers devised a system to serve.
Southampton v Burnley Referee: Graham Scott Assistants: Constantine Hatzidakis, Daniel Cook Fourth official: Lee Probert
Think Don posted that earlier in the thread, no idea who Graham Scott is, did he ref any of our games last year?
In theory this is a great fixture for us. Burnley are away in Europe on Thursday and then only have two days rest/preparation before our game on Sunday. But, I think they’ll come to frustrate, sit back and defend. 1-1.
Yep I always say to my mate at half time, don’t they realise they have only 15 minutes to make as much money as they can
It's rather sad that we have reached the position where we are concerned about Burnley at St Marys. No match is a true banker, but we would have looked at this match in that light before last season. The Swansea game put a skip in our step last season....we need to regain that feeling for this match. Here's hoping for a great game...cross that out....an ok game where Saints dominate Burnley who are weakened by injury incurred in Europe and dysentery from dodgy food on the flight back. #onlysaintsmatter
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-08-09/virgin-media-free-ice-cream-southampton-burnley Free ice cream....hope it's sunny enough. But if it isn't I'll force myself anyway.
