Once the habit is broken it's difficult to mend. My grandson used to go and meet his mates on the concourse, sometimes up to a dozen of them at a time. His mates dropped off one by one until eventually he was the only one still going and that was probably because I was paying for his ticket. Now he doesn't go, and all of them have found something else to do on a Saturday afternoon. He doesn't even mention City now where as before he knew everything about the players etc. All the replica kit sales etc that they all wore have ceased too and they have probably been lost forever. It's criminal. The no concession rule and new ticketing system is counter productive. It's almost as they don't want anyone to buy a ticket.
I thought that article could be much harder hitting than it is. Oh and the Allams can **** the **** off asap.
The long con was their punishment to us / Hull for their failure of a quick in and out kill, though they have both egotistically had moments of enjoying their fame / infamy ( they've all got it in for me ...)
My lad has gone footy training tonight. The lad he is with used to wear a city shirt. Not anymore. The young kids have been neglected til they move on. No way in Hell would Adam Pearson have allowed that. Been a supporter of city for near 50 years now and never felt so detached from the club.
I know the big juicy Walton St carrot has been cruelly whipped away from their slavering greedy mouths, but I thought 'legacy' was also a key motivator for AA. The gifts (assuming they are not loans at 5%) to the University and Castle Hill, are signs of someone who wishes to be seen in a good light, as a civic-minded benefactor alongside messrs Ferens, Reckitt and Pickering in the city's annals. Yet these have been overshadowed by the studied snubs, the weasel lip-service words, the gratuitous spite and bullying actions of people who believe that money steamrollers everything and everybody else. (Unfortunately the likes of Ed Milliband and numbnuts John Prescott have been bought/suckered in and used like pawns in the bigger game of influencing our council, who have commendably resisted.) The Bee Lady gets a gong because she fundraises with a smile for countless hours; the Allams will never get one because although they write far bigger cheques, they don't actually give any money, all they do is buy favour and influence. Happily it seems they have hoodwinked virtually no one and have been rumbled as the mendacious, deceitful, bungling, clueless, nasty, ruthless, self-centred, cynical, scheming, opportunistic, mustard-coloured shirt-wearing, crass, classless, shallow, vain losers they have shown themselves to be. As has been said so many times, it could have been so different. They could have had Assem Allam Way as a major thoroughfare in their 'adopted' city that sheltered them when they fled persecution and torture (allegedly) in Egypt, Now their name is mud and held in contempt. Sycophantic 'friends' and hangers on probably still give them the time of day, but everyone else now views them with distaste and disgust, as unpleasant people best avoided.
Agree. Still treading on egg shells rather than just coming out and saying it as it really is. Nowhere near as hard hitting and damning as it should be, especially as we are this far down the road of the Allams horrendous era in ownership of our club. Is PB / HDM waiting until Rome is fully burnt to the ground before they report the reality, the truth, how it really is? One simple example every man and his dog know full well the crowd in attendance was nowhere near what was declared. Instead of saying things like "some believe....", just say it as it is. Personally i doubt we even have 8500 ST holders (ignoring those with cards but not paying anything monthly). I believe its much lower and its the only reason weve seen at least some backtracking by the club on certain past decisions. But its far too little far too late (as explained nicely by a couple of preceeding posts). As said before, the ****s shoud be run out of the club and city, for crimes against our club.
I often wonder how different it could have been if the fans had been united against them as soon as the name change was mooted.
Why dont you do the running out? Why don't you do something? You're always going on about what others should do. What have you done?
I wish i could. I honestly never hope i come across the twat as i doubt i would be able to control myself ... unlike too many others who have come across him and said / done **** all. What have i done? Not enough. Joined protests. Given up my pass. Eventually stopped attending. Sent messages to the club, and to RH and HDM. Argued with people who have tried defending them. Paid my money to join and support the protest groups. And continued to voice my pleas / opinion on here and elsewhere that our weak local media shoud do far more. Yep, probably not enough....but then again i'm near 60 not in my relative youth (i had my time in past eras). Edit; actually, thinking about this, if 90% of our fanbase had done the same / as much, we'd almost certainly be much further down the road with seeing the back of the twats, and have achieved far more in terms of embarrasing and exposing them for the scum they are,
I think the Allams' Masterplan has been through several major makeovers Version 1.0 Buy the club, get the land from the council. Seems there was some welching from someone in the Council or the Allams misunderstood/thought they could grease some palms. Version 2.0 War on the Council with the club hostage in this (name change, move to Melton, lack of victory parades, lack of name on badge, war on Whiteley and the groundsmen) Version 3.0 War on fans ( no concessions, terrorism trope, £200K spent on away fans rather than City fans, passive aggression about complying with dialogue findings, closing West Upper) Version 4.0 Operation Drain the Coffers or the great 'Sustainability' lie. Get as much money out of the club as possible, making no attempt to disguise it, reduce the asset value of the playing squad to the absolute minimum, rinse it completely to show the ungrateful fans and the council who's boss.
Good summary. There's also been a divide and conquer of the fans granted, but some should have stood up sooner.
Indeed. There are some on this thread who were noisy cheerleaders, 6 or 7 years ago. and who would not countenance any adverse comments on the exits of Pearson and Barmby. How times change.
Personally, it's those who are most vocally anti-Allam now and who were previously propping up the regime (until relegation) who aggravate the most.
The Allam legacy was son and heir being booed as he raised the winners trophy at Wembley. Time will tell on the other legacies. Cracking read, thank you
Interesting re local media mate. Would be so refreshing if just for once, our local rag went out and made its own stance on what’s become a sordid, bitter and as said horrendous era culminating in a total alienated stalemate instead of fannying around with politely ga ga aimed at appeasing both sides of the conflict.
Everyone has their Damascene revelation or Private Idaho or Private Ryan moment. I smelt a rat re Pearson (rumours of petty expenses being queried and excessive submissiveness being requested). Others clung to the 'He loves Leicester you know' line. Barmby is still by some considerable distance the greatest football person this area has ever produced, and a supporter of our club. To dispense with his services (rumours again of lack of deference to the owners) so cheaply smacked of chronic insecurity, brittle egos and lack of maturity. Since then there have been a hundred minor and major events, everyone will have their own major ones.
