I actually think it's a distraction from the really nasty Corbyn and his Jewish problem.

I’ll tell what is ****ing brilliant, to the extent that I’ve started donating the odd £ to them, and that’s Wikipedia. Not for news obviously, but for history, biography, simple science etc. Rarely an evening goes by when I don’t look something up on it (when I’m not out on the lash). Last night there was a programme about Venice on and Casanova was mentioned. Not knowing anything about him I looked him up, fascinating and all in a five minute read. I know it’s criticised for false and incomplete entries but I think if you steer clear of celebrities etc it’s great. And stunningly comprehensive, amazing how they get contributors on everything, and keep it free.

The only thing apart from the Times that I have a subscription for is the Atlantic magazine, a US publication with the strapline ‘’of no party or clique’. In 150 years it has only published an editorial in favour of a presidential candidate 3 times - Abraham Lincoln, Lyndon Johnson and Hilary Clinton. It’s coverage of US politics is certainly hugely biased against Trump (though it doesn’t spare the democrats either), but there are always lots of interesting, well written and lengthy (some things require more than a headline and a paragraph) articles on loads of different subjects. It’s a monthly publication in print but the app is constantly updated. All for about £16 a year.

Well you’d never guess. I leave this site to have a look at the Atlantic and there’s a big article in it about.....Wikipedia. Now I have to read it.....

    https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/08/jeongpedia/566897/

I get it without all the adverts, thankfully.

    sounds cool. :emoticon-0148-yes:
Wikipedia is good for some but as you said you need to beware. I never used it much tbh although they have a crafty way of making get directed to the site when you type in something.
I use Google Scholar a lot. You can find some fab articles and papers.

I’m some way removed from the Boris Johnson fan club, but the calls from somebody with the amusing monicker of Lord Sheikh, representing the not-so-amusing Conservative Muslim Forum - is there a Conservative Christian Forum, I wonder (but can’t be bothered to Google to find out) - are quite ridiculous.

Post boxes, however, are bright, warm and traditional in the UK. The burkha, hijab or whatever these garments are called are not. Whatever the indoctrinated Muslim women say, these vestments were originally a means of subjugating them, but are now quite possibly an instrument of intimidation for some.

Remove Boris’ whip? Yeah, but only to shove it up his backside.

He did say it. Well, the timeline was:

    1. Deny all knowledge of the meeting
    2. Deny dictating Don Jr's statement about the meeting (which he didn't know about)
    3. OK, I did contribute to the statement about the meeting I knew nothing about.
    4. OK, I dictated the whole statement, but it was about adoption, and I still didn't know about the meeting.
    5. OK, it wasn't about adoption, it was about getting stolen info on Hillary, but I still didn't know about it, and anyway, it's not illegal
    6. OK, it was in an office next door to mine, and I was in my office, but I didn't know about it.
    7. Rudy Guliani says Collusion with foreign governments in an election isn't illegal.

There;'s a lot of denials there. And when you add one more step at the beginning - thatTrump was at a rally two days before the meeting and said (quote) "Wait and see, I'm gonna have big news about my opponent on Monday" (unquote) - the low levels of plausibility drop to pretty much nothing at all.

20/20 hindsight is coming, and it's possible to pretty much map Trump's actions and statements over the last three years to the obvious conclusion that he's as guilty as hell.

I don't think they use that method of execution for traitors any more.

Worth bearing in mind as well - that's just ONE of the many, many things he's clearly guilty of. Obstruction of justice (through his many tweets calling for the investigation into his conduct to be halted, and calling for the sacking of Robert Mueller). Enabling white supremacists and Nazis by calling them 'very fine people'. Stormy Daniels. Karen McDougal. All the other 19 women currently litigating against him for sexual assault. Children being separated from their families and then 'lost'. Refusal to call out domestic terrorists - but only if they are white. Failure to divest his businesses, leading to massive profit at taxpayer expense for himself. Targeting countries in his travel ban, but refusing to include countries where he has business ties.

Easy check : take just ONE of those. Accuse Obama of that. And then think of what the Republicans would be doing.

But Obama did NONE of this. Not a single investigation, indictment, or recusal for himself or any of his staff for the entire eight years. Trump hasn't even done two yet, and we already have criminal trials taking place.

Goldie I listened to a LBC download last night with an interview with Ex MP Stewart Jackson (who was adviser to David Davis). He basically said that he was pushed out of the Brexit circle and they have got rid of most Brexitiers.
He said May is selling us out and we sell us out even more as time goes on. People are now thinking it is a big stitch up. I did say recently I couldn't understand why she took over from the capable Raab. Another theory is that they will say they have run out of time and have an extension which will then prolong the process so they can get another referendum.
Was interesting to hear that Boris is even more popular now than he was before. May needs to go when she returns. I think we need to get out of this whole deal thing and go on WTO.

Was also interesting to hear their version of the EU/US deal. Funnily when I mentioned it last week it was dismissed by some on here yet they said the German manufacturers were s222ting themselves and sent Junker out to make a deal.

As for Boris, I can't stand the bafoon, he's a constant accident waiting to happen BUT on this occasion, I can't really see what he has said that is too wrong. He has probably said what a lot of people think but daren't say.

A very unnecessary and divisive comment to make, and a very childish thing to say coming from someone who has held a key position in Government. There are many that don't like the way Boris looks or sounds either, but that isn't relevant to any meaningful debate.
