That’s the irony, Marshall had a pretty decent game up to the 70th minute. He made some decent stops, distributes the ball well and commanded his box. But any player short of confidence reacts badly to a cock up. And the second goal was a right howler by Marshall. That said, after the keeper’s error there were two or three horrible missed tackles that could have prevented the goal. What our defence was doing for the third goal is anyone’s guess. The slowest player in their team, the player least capable of any skill, waltzed through in a perfect straight line. No blame to Marshall on that one by the way, the shot was well struck and no keeper could get down in time to save it. I do wonder if sometimes it would be better to throw a foot out and hope for a deflection (like Steer did with the Bowen one on one).
The loneliness place in the world is between the post when your a keeper who lost's form and confidence, strikers get hard luck mate when their miss a sitter , keepers tend to get crucified, agree with the point of view that he may needs a fresh start somewhere else but it maybe too late in the day for that, its not alway easy watching a person struggle with form in such a vital position, i actually feel for the guy.
As it stands I suspect he is one of the last relatively high earners, and based on that he'll be gone Summer next year when his contract expires
Philip Buckingham @PJBuckingham Got in touch with #hcafc this morning and last night's official crowd confirmed as 14,071. Lowest attendance for a season opener at the KCOM Stadium.
Hull City create unwanted KCOM Stadium history in season opener against Aston Villa Just over 14,000 were in attendance to see Nigel Adkins' side beaten 3-1 on home soil Hull City created an unwanted piece of KCOM Stadium history last night after just 14,071 supporters turned out to watch a new Championship season begin with a 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa. The Tigers fell to a disappointing loss at the hands of former boss Steve Bruce and the backdrop of empty seats in front of the Sky Sports cameras was another cause for concern. Not since 2002-03 and the final months of Boothfery Park have City recorded a smaller gate for the opening home game of a campaign, with the KCOM Stadium’s previous low coming for the 2003-04 curtain raiser when 14,675 were in attendance to watch a 4-1 win over Darlington in the fourth tier. Last night’s figure, including an estimated 2,000 travelling fans, was the latest measure of disenchantment among City fans. Twice last season – against Millwall and Barnsley – attendances fell below last night’s gate but the challenge of enticing lost supporters back to the KCOM Stadium promises to be tough this season. City’s crowds have steadily fallen since the club’s controversial membership scheme was introduced in 2016. Familiar failings for Hull City against Aston Villa as transfer pressure ramps up Supporters were balloted in the spring to decide if concession tickets should be reintroduced but a poor turn-out in two different votes is yet to bring any changes to last season’s ticketing model. City said in May that they would “liaise with the Football Supporters' Federation, with a view to understanding their factual insights in order to help us be able to move forward with making this decision in an informed manner.” https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ws/hull-city-create-unwanted-kcom-1869915?001
For supposed marketing specialists, the owners continue to do a wonderful job doing exactly the opposite!!! A football club, particularly one outside the Premier League that is increasingly dependent upon its supporters and the revenue they generate for the club, the word stakeholder clearly doesn't exist in the Allam vocabulary!!!
Another thing I don't get is the theory Campbell cannot handle 90 minutes , he is 30 and spent half his career on the bench - not exactly racked up 600 appearances, should have miles left on the clock
We have excellent ticket prices now for adults all they gave to do is drop it 50% for kids and 25% for old gits. Then market to the limit. It's that simple.
At the clique AGM the clique committee voted unanimously to send them all back to the West Stand. It also discussed the possibility of a Diversity & Culture Weekend Workshop later in the year. Originally planned for Scarborough it may now be held in Brid after the much publicised forward strides the town has taken in accepting others who may differ slightly from the pre-set benchmark of Anglo Saxon Male. I’m glad I made a return, albeit a one off, I enjoyed it & had a laugh. Sad to see the West Stand closed & the large pockets of emptiness around the ground. There was a some good periods of chanting, especially the last 10 mins of the first half. The football? Pfft, we’re City, if you wanted or expected better you should have made sure you were chosen by a more successful team. It’s all about the crack.
Serve up more of what was on offer last night, and its expensive!!! I do accept that if we have a half decent team on the pitch then the current adult pricing is ok. The overall issue is that the owners have pi**ed off so many, they will not return irrespective of the pricing.
Bearing in mind another massive upheaval, I actually thought we did ok - we could and should have put more of our chances away - Bowen's finishing was below par, another day we could have had 3 or 4 as we opened up a poor Villa a few times - the stats show we had more shots, unfortunately fewer on target - defensively we need to sort our left side out - we gave them too much space - de Wijs had a mixed game - hopefully gets better with a few games under his belt otherwise I can't see him starting for much longer - Kane, Batty, had good games and Evandro made Grealish look a waste of money - we certainly didn't deserve that result
Subtract the 2000 villa fans, apply the given 20 per cent reduction factor and the home support is comical. It takes some doing as a business genius when your best pay days come when there are hordes of visiting fans. One down, three to go? Leeds and the Sheffield clubs?
OMG. One game in and the doom merchants were out in force in the gym this morning. I said give it ten games and I'll join you!
Oi What do you think you were doing in our part of the house?! I thought North was quite good last night, although I wasn't near obvious racists or homophobes...that is possible in N so just choose a different seat there rather than skulking back to West for a sit down! EDIT - actually I was near obvious homophobes actually, they were singing about Ehab and Elmo. It was neither funny or warranted. Elmo was a very good player for this club and doesn't deserve it. Just sounded pathetic. I can confirm it was boycotted by al Clique members
