So... we’re one game into the season and Sunderland have won... not only won but came from behind to win! I think I must be dreaming! Although the sunburn on my baldy head doesn’t feel like a dream! Off to sing at Haggerston Castle now! Wish me luck

Respect for making the long trip. It's criminal what these absent owners can do to a football club, I hope that your owner sells up soon - you still have a decent team despite of all the sales and the injuries.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

I'd say that the fact we actually won the first game of a new season, for the first time in ages and with a brand new side yet to gel, says a lot about the changes that have taken place at our club.

For the older guys. With Gooch given a more forward and attacking role by R S I’ve noticed a strong resemblance between him and Billy Hughes. His hunched shoulders as he makes extremely direct runs into the box or towards the by-line. Any one else see this or is just me living the 70’s again.

No idea - I only just noticed that <laugh>
We played all of our pre-season games in red shorts.
Maybe SD is listening to the fans and changing stuff that he feels is wrong.

3 of the next 4 teams we play all started with a win today.

Another couple of wins from that lot would be a great August!

Ah well - standing alone again - story of life. But still see Billy Hughes style in the runs. Just hope Wyke becomes his new Vic H.

Blimey. In the second half we actually looked like a football TEAM, not the usual bunch of bell-ends who couldn't string a couple of passes together. My cup of optimism runneth over...

It was a great start and a fantastic way to win it. With McGeouch back in the team we will be a lot better.
It seemed like a good atmosphere today too, although at one stage in the second half it sounded like a training game you could hear the players shouting.

Anyone got any videos like this...

There is something similar to the way Gooch jinks past the defenders, I've not seen much of Wyke but if he is anything like Vic then I'll be well chuffed.

I've been calling Gooch a terrier for the last few years. Short but stocky, powerfull quick and direct. Bit like Billy. I see it and I've only seen Billy a few times not being born at the time(Met him loads of times though as he used to run my local golf club)

What a great result, low point, center half positions this must be sorted, high points many, but Mumba was exceptional, what a prospect, he has that M'Villa knack of creating space in a crowded midfield with a footballing brain way ahead of his years. A mention also for Luke Molyneux, who played his part in those last minutes leading up to that priceless goal. Oh and Ben Stokes had a canny day as well. <cheers>.

    Wondered where you’d been Hefty.

Goochy the yank scored the winner so I’m surprised you’ve not started a thread about it or something :emoticon-0105-wink:
