Did you miss the points difference bit?
25 points is a **** lot to make up, City may drop a few more and you may win a few more (same as Spurs and United) but a 25 point swing is asking a lot.

If we have no injuries, then we’ll certainly be challenging.

But this is football and injuries and rotation is expected so I think we still fall short. Our starting XI would be complete if we had a RCB and an AM. Our squad depth is also getting better. I do think we will win a trophy this season.

We’re making great progress and klopp is building a great team. Still more work to be done but we’re on the right path.

We are more likely to win the premiership than to win a cup, any cup.

We have reached several finals under Klopp and didn't win a single one. Only a fool would put money on us beating any team in a cup final, unless playing a championship or first division side.

so which final are you upset about.

    the Seville one
    the man city one
    or the real Madrid one?

like... hellllooooo!!! all top sides really.

we've not get a nice mid table rival or lesser league team in a euro final yet.

By definition, you would expect a top side in a final. Even a League Cup final would probably see 2 top sides. So no chance then.

I get your point about the calibre of the opponents but when you've lost 3 in a row, it is bound to play on players mind. No matter what conscious effort they make to think objectively.

If you say it often enough, every year, you'll be right eventually..let's hope so. We've never had so much optimism at the start of the season for a very very long time, am I correct?

    Ahem

    Utd

    League cup Southampton.
    Fa cup palace
    Europa ajax

Are you seriously telling me that lfc wouldn't have won all 3.

We got top top sides in our 3 finals while Utd got piss easy games.

We lost v city on pens cos coutinho thought he was Johnny big balls and spanned up and to an absolute piss pen.
We lost v Seville due to one player Moreno thinking it was won at ht.

We lost to real due to karius

    You will note also

The only players left from Europa final will be firmino, lovren as first team and clyne and Milner as reserves.

    Allison
    Van dijk
    Robertson
    Mane
    Kieta
    Salah
    Taa
    Fabinho

They will all want to win so mental scars? Meh... klopp was partying after the cl loss. He doesn't get scars.

If we get a mid table side in a final great. If we get anyone in a final great. We made a final.

    Depends what you call optimism.

    Is it hope or confidence?

I think most will admit some hope for a race at the top, getting closer to 85 that 75 points than that can become a dun at the end.

Confidence thst we will win though?

I am confident we will be very entertaining this season. I hope we have something to play for in the last 3 months.

League cup - needs kind draws and kids to step up. We loaned out too many though to have a kids team so it's sturridge and the like.

Fa cup. Klopp not treated this well. I've no confidence in us doing anything.

Cl? Who knows due to seeding. It's a strange one. Some of the no 1 seeds are very strong. Only loko moscow are weak. It's down to which no 2 seed we draw imo. Get out of group and then it's a lottery in last 16.

League requires a good start and taking 9 out of every 12 points minimum. That's win 3 out of every 4 games. If we are down on 7 points out of 12 you can write this off pretty quick and it becomes a race for4th.

So all in all? Confidence? It will be fun and full of goals.

Although I was obviously kidding, I'm always optimistic at the start of a season. There's a difference between hope and expectation, and I rarely indulge the latter.
However, this season I do expect us to play exciting and entertaining football, and that's enough for me. If it brings trophies as well, then all the better.

You’ll stutter mid season when he’s run them into the ground after a WC summer.

The expectation also brings massive pressure and there’s a much higher sense of expectation around reds at the minute. We’ll see what Klopp has actually got this season imo, now that his main man has ****ed off.

Last season didn’t follow an international summer and Salah had the season of his life.

we didn't have that may players at WC and even fewer who went deep in the tournament.
Robertson ,VVD, Gomez ,Clyne ,Fabinho ,Keita , Milner , Wijnaldum , Lallana ,Sturridge , Ings , Origi
have all sat on their backsides on a beach somewhere since end of last season.

The majority who did go to WC didn't play all that much.
