If we are at the top and blowing the league away come March/April time, I actually think we'll get a couple of sell outs, this season.
Charlton fan Travelling up to your place on Saturday, along with 600 other Addicks. To cut a long story short, for the last 4 and a half years our club has been destroyed, bit by bit, by a negligent absentee arrogant idiotic foreign arsehole owner named Roland Duchatelet. He has asset stripped everything worth selling, left us over £50m in debt, and insulted our fans as “customers” and “vinegar pissers”. Our home attendances during Duchatelet’s time have fallen from 18,000 to 6,000, as fans walk away. The EFL has deliberately and wilfully looked the other way during this carnage, and we will field a team of kids and freebies at your place as a result. Good luck this season lads, and spare a thought for our 113 year old football club, ruined by a Belgian idiot.
Shame to hear mate, always was a good club Charlton, and previously I’ve always liked you lot since you did us in the play-offs. In a way you did us a favour as the next season is one that we will never likely forget. Hopefully it turns around for you soon, £50million debt sounds a real issue at this level though, monstrous.
I've got nothing against Charlton at all, it was horrible at the time of course but they weren't the first team to beat us and won't be the last. I think we know a bit about what their fans are going through but to be honest we've had it easy in comparison by the sounds of it. Best of luck. From Sunday onwards obviously.
Apparently we've sold 28,000 tickets now. I'd expect a few more hundred buying tickets before Saturday and maybe a couple of thousand turning up on the day. We should go over 30k. What is the record attendance in this league?
Ouch. I was out in Saudi back then. Felt that was far enough away after the humiliation of another relegation.
Record attendance for league one is 49,309. Leeds managed to get 38,256. I'd love us to beat Leeds attendance.
This was when Leeds were down there... A crowd of 38,234 for the visit of Bristol Rovers on Saturday gave the United the highest average home attendance in the division, nudging them ahead of the Canaries by 62 paying customers per match. City's average home league gate in 2009-10 was 24,755, the second highest at Carrow Road since the 1970s and better than their last three seasons in the Championship. But the Leeds v Bristol Rovers game, attracting the biggest crowd in the division all season, took the Elland Road average gate to 24,817. Both clubs were comfortably ahead of Southampton, who had the next best figure of 20,982. Charlton (17,407) and Huddersfield (14,608) were a distant fourth and fifth, respectively.
No - it was 42k to start with the Prem Concourse which was part of original design/build. We added the upper north which increases capacity by another 6k, while also squeezing in another 1k around the lower bowl to give the current 49k capacity ( when all back open ). Think original design was to be able to get 62k if we put east upper in - not sure I’ll ever see that happen but who knows
I think Man City hold the attendance records for this league, something like an seasons average of over 33,000 from memory.
