JayRod because of his age and potential but would not be to upset if we got maynard or another decent striker and a defender...
None, i'd sign a centre-back If it had to be one of those then Jay Rodriguez, but only for a fair price as some of the figures being quoted are ridiculous.
These are all strikers, and I think Rodriguez would be the best value. I still think we need a CB as well, and if it was a choice between the two, a CB would edge it. Don't know who, though, as soon as one starts getting linked with us, something goes wrong with the deal. We will just have to trust NC and NA to sort it out. Which they will. I hope...
It's got to be Jay Rodriguez, he's got a lot of potential and would definately increase our chances of promotion. But I feel we need a CB before we buy a Striker.
Cb cb cb cb cb cb cb. <- my thoughts. If Adkins could control the ego and he didn't demand astronomical wages, think beckford would destroy this league with his pace, but would everton really let him go he started over Saha the other week?!
Maynard for me but I would be very happy with any of those. I do feel we're a bit short up front with Guly being used more in midfield now and I prefer Forte on the wings as well. I don't think we need Clyne really, even though he would be a fantastic signing. Richardson's been great, we have Butterfield and we also have Jack Stephens coming through.
Also, I'd love it if we signed Kilgallon from Sunderland but I don't think we're that desperate for a CB as Jack Cork could always do a job there if we got desperate.
Seeing as we seem to of been linked with pretty much every striker who played under Adkins at Scunny... Who thinks we should go for Gary Hooper?!
We can rely on NC and NA to make the right decisions, as some above have identified. Centre Half would be my priority, though I consider Martin as very able and promising, Seaborne as finally settling on the pitch, Jaidi as capable of putting in a solid performance when called upon, and Fonte as one of the very top centre halves of this league, as the Echo has published a left sided centre half may be needed. Defence requires a co-ordination greater than any other area on the pitch. I do not have the same level of distaste for Seaborne's ability as some other supporters, but personally I'd rather see a centre half alongside Fonte of similar quality, but not style. For me that would certainly be a foundation for a promotion push, and whilst we are fantastic going forward, we need slight tightening at the back. Plus its good to be back, not been on here since January, might put my feet up and get comfy again.
I also have a feeling we will not sign anyone Ford, these days Southampton Football Club operates efficiently (to a degree) and professionally. I just would not want to be a Tottenham fan, they should have looked to Saints and Cortese on how to deal with a player too big for his boots. Modric bigger than Spurs? They have a better fan base and history than Chelsea. Chamberlain good signing for Arsenal? He is already part of a laughing stock, and has been condemned as foolish by just about every local and national media source. I want no signings if they demand inflated wages beyond what our players currently earn, and from no clubs who expect us to pay over the odds as it is deadline day. Deadline day should have been a month ago anyway.
Of all the strikers Jay Rodrigeuz looks the most promising from what I have seen, and I have a feeling he would be more the type of player that would fit in what with what we are doing regards age, personel and potential. However, agree that a quality CB companion for Fonte would add that security in defence that we seem to need. I wouldn't be distraught though if we sign no one, we're kind of conditioned to expect something on deadlione day such is the nature of the game at the moment.
