I thoroughly agree with you Stan - I am a well meaning thoughtfull person <laugh> Having said that, criticizing Israel and the issue of anti semitism is something like walking on a tightrope. I am not really hell bent on defending some of these creeps, they can do that better themselves, but I am aware that the media, and sections of the PLP are out to discredit Corbyn's leadership at all costs. So many complaints from the Jewish community (or sections of it) at this time smacks of conspiracy of some sort. Having said that, I am well aware that racism can occur at all ends of the political spectrum - the darlings of the extreme left (Marx and Engels) were the worst of all for this.

I asked a guy at work why he voted remain and he said because if I vote to leave people will say I am a thick racist. Unbelievable...I had to hold in my laughter but said what else? Yeah because we won't get any food and medicines and there will be a recession 3 million will lose their jobs the day after...Ah bless.

True, a lot of the idiot racists and xenophobes are/were over 60. My Leave-voting mates are happy to admit that, whilst they themselves are not racist of course, a significant element of Leave voters were swayed by the racism of the Farage propaganda and the Project Fear stories of our being invaded by 70 million Turks. Anyone on here prepared to admit that?

I'm prepared to say that a significant element of Remain voters were swayed by the Project Fear of Osbourne and the propaganda of the media.
...Anyone on here prepared to admit that?

Whilst I'm loath to defend this bloke (who seems to be a bit of a dick), what I heard him say was 'let the 67 (or whatever number it was) Rabbis produce evidence of Labour anti-Semitism'. Which seems fair to me. The Trump-supporters thing was a bit bizarre, admittedly, but surely it was a description of those making the accusations, rather than all Jews. How is that in itself anti-Semitic? The thing is, Corbyn and a lot of his supporters are anti-Zionist, but that does not make them anti-Semites. I guess there are people among them that allow one to spill over into the other, but I would suggest that they are a small minority. There are also, however, many people - eager to damage Corbyn - who are far too quick to portray legitimate criticism of the Israeli state as racism. It isn't.

I don't think saying 'a significant element' is generalisation, is it?

I personally think most remainers voted to remain as they didn't really see what is/was so bad about being a member of the EU. They had their eyes truly opened now though with all those rules and laws we have had to follow all these years.

Of course I would, but it seems suggesting that any Leave voters were racist is an outrage. Is it?

I’m far from outraged, Stroller.....just pointing out your generalisation (as I see it).
I save my outrage for other, more important things that effect me personally

Why be a sheep and follow something I don't believe in?

People never really worried about the EU, they just got on with it. Now I am not saying that the EU is all bad. What I am saying is that they will never adapt or change. The whole EU set up is like a mafia. Organised to help out countries like Germany and now France and leave others behind (Italy). The EU has failed on so many fronts and keeps failing. For me, I want to be in control of our laws and our destiny. If people don't understand that then I don't know what to say. The whole thing has been divisive however it has shown the EU in a true light.
