If you don't win your new manager deserves the sack...… we are a basket case at present.... fans detest the owner, owner detests the fans, club being run into the ground and the fans refusing to go to said ground.... Mackems to win 3-0

First season in L1 can be fun, second and third seasons far less so, fourth and after seasons are a nightmare..... you need to make sure you get out this season!!

Cheers RTB. Enjoy your jollies fells.

Be good to get off to a flyer with a 2 - 0 win but anything could happen at this point. Will the players gel on the day and get off to a good start or will they be like strangers and struggle - one thing I do know is we need to get behind them from the off and not bottle it and get on their backs if we go behind. It's going to be a long old season, but hopefully a successful one!

Unless anybody else fancies it I've arranged with RTB to do (have a go at) the Match Day threads for Luton & Sheff. Wed. whilst he enjoys his holiday :emoticon-0105-wink:

Does anybody else fancy doing them ?

I think the lazy bugger should be quite capable of doing them whilst lying beside the pool knocking back his puffy pina colada's, but thats just between you and me Gordon ;)

Good stuff. What's the expected crowd for Saturday? Is 30,000 realistic?

We've sold 22k season tickets. Charlton might bring 1 or 2k up and the weather should be bloody good, so 30k is a real possibility, which would be mad!

Downside is its on tv, its school holidays and the weather should be bloody good.

    So no bloody idea!

Edit: just read we've sold 26,000 tickets for the game.

    Not quite
Probably 25 plus I would think
30.000 is not unrealistic it could happen

Edit maybe we will reach 30.000
It’s crazy we may get a third tier record
However there has been some high crowds
And part of our ground is shut so I doubt it

I think we will hit the 30k with walk-ins on the day, and with the upper tier shut the altmospher me should be unreal.

The stadium was 40,000 before the extension but will be below that now I’d imagine as alterations were needed when extension built, maybe 38,000 or so anyone know the facts of this?

Wasn't that the extension to the premier concourse putting about 7,000 extra. I think without any upper tier it is about 31,000

I just know under Reid it was 40k, but would imagine the building work would have slightly reduced the lower bowl for stairwells and access. Still high 30’s you’d think.

Sorry to be pedantic, but I'm sure that it was 42k.

You may well be right mate in and around that, I’m just wondering what it would be now without the extension open.

Isn't that like 11k? So I'm thinking about 38k. Could be miles out like!

I reckon around that level, just wondering as to what it would take to fill it, likely won’t happen Saturday but if we put a run together we could be house full. Be incredible for this level.

Iirc when the stadium was built it held 42000.
When the extension was done it added another 6000.
Closing the Premier concourse is around 6000 so the stadium for this season should hold 42000.
However the away end is never going to be sold out so anything upwards of 35000+ would be classed as a sell out.
I could be completely wrong with these figures as it's 20 years or so since we opened shop at the SOL. and my memory isn't what it used to be.
