The local West London paper say we've gone back in for Matt Targett and Talksport say the revised bid is £12m.
If we get Mawson and Targett, anything more is a bonus - the players already signed plus those two would add up to the most impressive transfer window I can ever remember from Fulham. That's not to say that more back up in certain positions wouldn't be handy, but we will have covered all of the positions that needed strengthening and done so with (in some cases) far better players than some of us dared to hope for.
Southampton have turned down this second attempt to get Matt Targett. Be interesting to see if the Augustinson link resurfaces or if there’s more legs to the Tierney rumour. Meanwhile - * Italian papers are saying that we've approached Genoa about the availability of their 28 year old striker Gianluca Lapadula * An alternative LB option is Nicolas Tagliafico. The Sun say that we are looking at the 25 year old Argentinian. Biggest issue is probably that he's currently with Ajax and we know how impossible they are to deal with (or more specifically their Chairman). * Sky Sports have resurrected our interest in Joshua Guilavgui. The 25 year old from Wolfsburg would compete directly with Kevin McDonald for the defensive mid position.
My oldest (who is far more up on all the rumours than I am) seems to think that Southampton have named their price for Targett: £15M and he's ours. Much as I'd like us to sign him, I think that's a bit overpriced myself.
I had similar feelings but was reminded of 2008 by an article today, although this is shaping up to be great, that summer we had Bobby Z, Zoltan G, Mark Schwarzer, John Pantsil, Chris Smalling, Andy Johnson, Dickson Etuhu and David Stockdale join (plus a few others). The players we are bringing in look to be a step up, but a lot of the 2008 intake went on to be core players in our Europa league run and Smalling brought us a decent return. I'd like to see Targett back, there were a few reports linking us to Tierney and he would be a great signing, even at £25-30m - obv not guaranteed but he is likely to become a top class player so could get 2/3 years before selling him for double - added bonus is his relationship with Roberts, might help us to tempt him back to the Cottage
Tend to agree Silkship Targett great, but not at an inflated price,if we have to pay big bucks then go for Tierney Anyone know whats happened re:::Mawson
What a transfer so far, now just a left back for me to complete an amazing window ( although I think a few others may come in). Personally I really want Targett he was good last year, is young and should only get better, the pictures he posted on Instagram shows he has bulked up a lot already. Anyway another left back has been mentioned possibly on loan and that is Theo Hernandez of Real Madrid
Good point, I'd forgotten about 2008. Good as that lot were, I'm not sure any of them were as highly-rated when we signed them as Seri and Schurrle (though those two, along with the others, still have to live up to their reputations, obviously). Let's hope the current intake get us to a European final in the next couple of years - I'd settle for that.
While us fans have sweated through the 'Awesome' Mawson (thank you 2whites!) hiatus, the Club have been beavering away. As well as Cookie's LB Theo Hernandez of Real Madrid (a £2m loan fee is being mooted) there has been: * Dutch papers today saying we've made enquiries of Eintracht Frankfurt about their 24 year old LB Jetro Willems. Apparently his Agent is keen, so there you go! * Belgium papers say we're prepared to match Anderlecht's £4.5m for their 28 year old Kara Mbodji. Ostensibly a CB, the guy is viewed equally strong in the holding midfield position and it's likely that's where we'd see him fitting in.
Jetro Williams served me well on FM a few years back, never seen him play but he was a beast on the game. Going to see if I can get odds for Fulham finishing above Chelsea this season, bit of long shot but I can't help getting excited now! Fair play to Shahid, I've been critical of him, even in recent months, but happily chowing down on my words now - yes we khan!
Rumblings across the inter web that we maybe signing striker Vincent Aboubakar on loan from Porto which would be quite some signing. Also the Theo Hernandez left back rumours from Real Madrid appear to have some legs! There was a Fulham fan on another Forum that stated a month ago that he had been given reliable information from a trusted source that we would be signing Hernandez and Aboubakar.... he was laughed at because people assumed he meant Bernard Hernandez of Athletico Madrid who had just won the World Cup for France ( think he might be Theo’s brother)
The latest sources say that FFC representatives are enquiring about Dennis Preat,we enquired about a loan ,but it appears that his club will only entertain a full transfer sale. Anyone know anything about his guy
Apparently Chelsea have just made a raft of players, including Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham, and our old friends Kalas and Piazon, available for loan. Any thoughts? I'd be happy to have K and P back, but after the new signings I'm not sure that we need them. I suspect Roy will want to pounce on Loftus-Cheek, but Abraham might not be a bad back-up for Mitro.
Well, since we can only have 1 of them, the 'quality' choice would have to be Loftus-Cheek. He's obviously looking for a firm place each week though and don't see us sacrificing Cairney or Seri. Given our predicament at CB for some while to come, Tomas Kalas would be that one.
