You don't need to win the league to enjoy some glory. As I remember I pretty much enjoyed those season under Koeman and Pochettino, also 1 part of the season under Puel was memorable because of european football. If we need to spend a cuople of boring years, I'd rather we spent them in the EPL waiting for another good campaign and european spot, then spend them in the championship waiting for promotion.

 

That didn't really answer my point that although you want your team to be successful, following a football club is about more than just results.

Well it is for me anyway.

I think if Fulham were to offer £20m for Targett, that would be too good to turn down in my book.

But at the current rumoured £10m level, I'm not hugely in favour. Only if that £10m is the difference between us strengthening in the final third, or not, would I go with that.

Quite where my line is between £10m and £20m, whereby I go from ideally keep to ideally sell, I'm not too sure.

 

Ourselves and Leicester are keen on Ghezzal from Monaco, a £4m bid has them interested apparently.....but who has made the bid?

Can't say I know a lot about him, but his name keeps cropping up on rumour sites connecting to us.

 

The fact they want as little as 4 million for him sets off alarm bells straight away for me, he’s either horrifically bad or is a colossal bell end and they just want rid ASAP.

Monaco owe us nothing. We bought from them a third choice 26 year old striker with a goal scoring average of scoring 1 in 5 games who was supposed to save us from relegation like some second coming! Felt sorry for the poor sod when he joined us, we got what was there for anyone to see, at that age there are no surprises in football. If he could not make it L1 - he was always going to struggle in the EPL. I do hope he resurrects his career, because we put him a position where he could only fail.

He still doesn't sound a Saints signing though, we tend to be quite cautious on who we purchase character wise, but then there was Osvaldo...

 

Osvaldo was actually a decent player though and had stats to back that, shame he acted like a complete mong!

 

We seemed to have been unfortunate with him because, as you have written, he came with pedigree, but we seem to have bought at the start of a very steep downward slide.

 

Osvaldo was a super talented player. Scored one of the best goals since our return to the top flight as well. Just a total loose cannon that we couldn't control. So, you could see why we risked the transfer fee on him.
Carillo on the other hand, nope, can't see why we signed him at all. (not his fault though, but the wages stops my pity going any further)

 

where did this myth start that Southampton only sign players with a heart of gold? As far as I can see they've all been dickheads (apart from Rickie, Yosh and SKD)
