Highest temperature in Europe ever recorded is 48c.

    Although I don't know where.

Might be topped this week in Spain or Portugal. No doubt both countries will grind to a halt.

Been to Vegas once for a couple of days. Glad I went but I won't be going back. Death Valley is something else, I would go back there.

Been to Vegas 5 times so I'm not sure what you guys are on about by not liking the place. Everyone to their own, of course, but the place is a totally different holiday to any other we have had, mainly Europe, brash, yes, in your face at times, yes, much like Benidorm in certain ways. The only thing that bugs me about the place are the 'resort fee's' up front at that, mainly for stuff that you never use, we used to use a hotel that didn't charge such fees but that has gone now so no escape. The heat, yes it can be unbearable, and as Ernie pointed out, it can be cold as well, it is in the middle of the desert after all. Booze is not cheap, agreed, but most stuff is reasonable, food and shows were to 2 things that we looked forward too, and the cheapish offers that you could get at the Tix 4 Less ticket offices. The one thing you have to be wary of, as well as the usual safety stuff, are the timeshare scams, we got caught out a few years back and was promised an hours consultation then tickets for rooms for a hotel in Hawaii at any date, expiring a years hence. It turned out to over 4hrs of intensive type grilling to grind you down into trying to sign up, if you showed sign's of wavering and wanting to leave, the 'assistant' would show you the way out only to be confronted by his or her 'boss' on the way out, who started the whole process again, but on a more aggressive level. We complained about the heat, the interrogations, everything we could think of but they would not let go. We eventually were let out, given our tickets to Hawaii only to find that we had to book our own flights and transfers, and it as room only, if in Vegas, avoid timeshare smoothies.

But they could reach those heights shortly. Although OLM won't have thought it had ever reached as high as
47.4c the fact it was 0.6 under 48 he will consider a major victory.
