Yesterday, the 2 centre backs seemed to be too far apart, they need to be closer together and the fullbacks squeeze in a bit. We were just to stretched across the back at times.
I know it's difficult to judge from the highlights on YouTube, but we looked to be absolutely outplayed, they looked like a team that had recently been in the PL. Plenty of good movement. I suppose time, which we don't really have before Villa, will help, but I expect us to be down the bottom early on & struggle for mid table mediocrity for the rest of the season. Has anyone who's watched the games any hope of more?
Cruel bounce for the goal. Shocking from, Evandro?, trying to clear it. They only showed one corner didn't they? Over the top reaction possibly?
I’ve not been paying too much attention to City recently but I’m sure I’ll get back into it once we start the season. One thing that’s obvious though is our very poor options up front. Does anyone else think that Bowen would be best used as a striker? To me his best asset is finishing so he seems to be wasted on the wing when we don’t have a decent goal scorer up top. We’ve got a fair few attacking midfielders who could play out wide if needed to put Bowen in the areas he can score goals.
I thought it was a pretty even contest, Barnsley pressed us well and moved the ball at times and had the lion share of the possession, but we did play some good football at times on the counter-attack, and with better finishing could have scored 2 or 3 more, and IMO the highlights don't totally reflect how the game unfolded.
