Benson clawing to show Hamilton is better than fifth in FP2...............

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/44984040

"Hamilton ended up an unrepresentative 0.753secs off the pace.

    .......

Had the Mercedes drivers completed their laps, it appeared as if Hamilton could have been around third place on a track where the team were expecting to struggle a little compared to Ferrari"

    who knows.

I personally would be more interested in them over heating rear tyres for the race than one lap pace.

I'm going for vettel here but it's high time the errors on both sides get cut out so any more stupidity and this championship could go away from ferrari.

in this race imo Ferrari have no excuses from Friday. a 1/2 is on. red Bull are better than Mercedes as we stand. hamilton will have to fight very hard for podium.

but it can all change quickly

At least one red bull will break down. Kimi will be put on an obscure strategy. I see Vettel vs Max for the win, a Mercedes 3rd.

Gone for a Max win. Have a feeling he's going to make the most of a rain affected race.

Lewis has been really lucky recently, so it's time for that luck to swing the other way. I've gone for Vettel.

    Less is more?
so, Danny to break down then? was thinking of voting for him here too, he's quick here, but losing 1/2 second in s1 is huge margin to pull back.

P.S. Apologies to all, just bought a new GFX card on wed, what a nightmare, **** Nvidia.

I went to see the race in 2013. Cracking place, but when it's hot it's hot. Was 38c on race day I think.

Oh, and Force India have just gone into administration. So it's unlikely we'll see them in quali as the assets are likely to be impounded.

Wonderful. That's what P4 in the WCC gets you.

Would vote Vettel but he will probably find some way to bottle it again so going with safe reliable old Ham.

    I went in the 90’s iirc .

Corruption was still rife . I was told by a mate not to buy a grandstand ticket , as they sold more tickets than they had seats . I ignored him , and spent the race sitting on a dusty grassy bank . They had indeed sold more tickets than seats and I was not allowed into the grandstand .

We stayed in a hotel on the poor side of the river ( can’t remember which is which ) , the Minardi mechanics were there as well !!!

Apparently it's because of 4m owed to Perez that has sent them over the edge

Anyway there are a few rich dad's who want seats for their sons. Bring on team Dad F1

As Force India are in administration, not liquidation, I think they can still race? Their only possible source of income to pay creditors is the end of season prize money.

    Yes .

They are racing this weekend and hope to carry on as Normal .

It was Perez who took the legal action according to the BBC .

If true , he will be as popular as a rattle snake in a lucky dip !

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/44990884

Force India will compete in the remainder of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend after being placed into administration on Friday.

In a note addressed to "friends", and seen by BBC Sport, team co-owner Vijay Mallya said court action was instigated by Force India driver Sergio Perez.

Mallya said the team's operating company was the largest creditor, with debts owing of more than £159m.

He said he would work to secure the team's future with the administrator.

This could mean selling the team to new owners. There are said to be at least three potential buyers considering a purchase of the Silverstone-based outfit.

Mallya wrote in his note: "Our holding company will work with the administrator to take the team out of administration or sell the team at the best possible price."

He added that both he and deputy team principal Bob Fernley remained in their positions.

Joint Administrator Geoff Rowley, from FRP Advisory LLP, said: "The team will continue to operate as normal, including racing in Hungary this weekend. Our aim is for business as usual while we assess options to secure the future of the team."

The largest external creditor is Mercedes, with about £10m worth of engine bills unpaid. Perez's action is about unpaid salary. The Mexican's sponsors contribute several millions in sponsorship to the team, out of which the driver is paid.

Mallya's note added that title sponsor BWT, an Austrian water company, had "jumped in and claimed that their sponsorship amounts were loans, which is ridiculous as our entire car is pink with BWT branding".

On Friday, Force India admitted they faced a "critical period" as financial problems threatened the team.

Before the team was put into administration, chief operating officer Otmar Szafnauer said he believed fresh investment in the team was "imminent", and added he is confident if the team went into administration it would come out of it and survive.

Force India's problems arise from the legal issues of Mallya, who is fighting extradition to India on fraud charges, which he denies. He cannot travel from his base in the UK as a result but Fernley is expected to be at Hungaroring.

Meanwhile, team driver Esteban Ocon is on the verge of securing a deal to move to Renault for next season as a replacement for Spaniard Carlos Sainz alongside German Nico Hulkenberg.

Sources have told BBC Sport a deal for the Frenchman to make the switch is agreed and simply needs finalising.

Ocon is effectively on loan to Force India from Mercedes, who own his contract.

Szafnauer said: "It's fine for him to go but we have to agree to that. If it's mutually beneficial [to Force India and Mercedes], that's what we are going to do. We won't stand in his way."

In fairness it looks like Perez is doing it for the right reasons. A lot of those in the know think Force India will be in a better place after this. They've been starved of funds for years and now they can potentially get a backer in.

Hype energy are the ones being bells here, claiming they wanted to inject $30m but Perez and Mercedes said no. Hype are just after free publicity, they only have $1m available to spend according to their public accounts.

    Bloody hell . Didn't know that .

Not sure about Perez , he's doing it for His reasons , but yes , I can only see good coming out of this for the team IF the new owners / investors have the teams long term interest at heart .

Part of me is fearful that , now they are in admin , a cowboy will buy them , simply for bragging rights .

I think it will be Stroll SNR , This bloke - https://richenergy.com/ , and ?

well they are called hype, what do you expect?
I think he's probably done the right thing for purely selfish racing reasons, the car is a good base but without some in season development it'll simply drop further back, like the Brawn in '09
