He played well last year, but one more season max at this level. When we go down he can have a new contract
Bit of background information to help your vote, since Albert couldn't be arsed: Mo will be 32 before the start of next season and he is in the last year of his contract this season. At that age you would have to say that providing he has a good first half of the season we should be offering him a year long extension. He's probably only going to get less mobile after that so I wouldn't be dishing out 2 and 3 year contracts. You can play it year by year if his legs last, although you have to wonder about a big lad like him staying at the level he's at.
Voted no as I'd like to see a proper midfield enforcer come in but if he can keep his performance levels up from last year between now and Jan I'd maybe look at a 12 month extension.
Who is a proper midfield enforcer though? We ain't gonna get the next Yaya Toure, and we'd be unlikely to find another player like Tiote at the bargain price we paid. Our options are limited as fatty clearly doesn't wanna sign any one except on loan, beggars can't be choosers sadly.
Mo is very much like Shola, you either love him or hate him, he can be brilliant one day then ****e another he also reminds me that, whenever Shola's contract was up he would put a shift in, then resort back to being ****e once a new contract had been signed I say give him a1 month rolling contract to keep him on his toes
If there is one club in the world I can believe that can find players at a disgustingly cheap price its us. Tiote, Sissoko, Cabaye, Diame all in for under a combined £15m maybe even a smidge over £10m. Perez £1.5m and Lejuene for £8m were good prices. Lacselles and Darlow for £10m was a good deal. Tbh we've probably never heard of the next best DM going as they aren't headline players. I'd never heard of Tiote and I'd sure AF never heard of N'golo Kante before he popped up at Leicester City.
Perhaps when we shift Hayden we will make a move for this Maia fella. You'd still retain Diame on the basis that he has done little wrong in the last 6 months. Whether that involves a new contract, I'd be inclined to wait and see if he replicates it. We certainly won't be signing anyone until we shift Hayden though as we have too many. Diame, Hayden, Shelvey, Ki for two slots. It would have to be one in one out otherwise we are just stockpiling for no good reason.
Need to include a Lascelles beatdown clause in the new contract, but yeah, I think he's done enough for 2 more years here, maybe 3 as a bit-part player.
His game largely revolves around his engine and he's the same age as 'who framed Roger Rabbit' 'Beetlejuice' and 'Die Hard' so I would say no.
