As per Phil's request, seems a good idea to me. We haven't had enough polls recently.

**** is a term of endearment.

Clown Shoe only works when used in it’s entirety & not censored because of our resident hypocritical Clown Shoe snowflake.

I voted on the wrong one (because the title of the thread and the title of the poll are the opposites, FFS Bob), clownshoe is much worse.

    Snowflake.

    Terms & words progress.

When used on here it's not directed at any DS people. It's used when addressing somebody that's acted stupid or idiotic. As in it's definition.

    mong in British 2
    (mɒŋ)

    noun
    British slang, offensive
    a stupid or foolish person
Collins English Dictionary. Copyright © HarperCollins Publishers

What if you use the word "bastard"? You may be offending an illegitimate person. Shall we ban that too? You'd be the first chucking out the snowflake tag if somebody complained.

If it was directed at somebody who was DS because they were DS then it would be wrong.

The only person connecting the word to DS people is the person complaining.

The correct answer would be Information Technology but I'll humour you.

Are it's origins relevant today? If so should the following be used?

Basketcase? The term originally referred to a person, usually a soldier from World War I, who had lost all four limbs.

Cretin? Originally referred to a deformed person who was also mentally handicapped because of congenital thyroid deficiency

Moron? Originally referred to people with learning difficulties & people with feeble minds.

Mumbo Jumbo - Referred originally to a ceremony used with the intention of keeping women obedient

No Can Do - Was originally a way of mimicking broken Chinese English.

Nobody has used the word in question as a direct insult to a DS person, I don't believe anybody would. If he takes offence at it's general use now it's moved on then that's for him to deal with & shouldn't be an issue for anybody else.

Words & phrases move on. It's a pity old farts can't.

Do as you please, but remember... free speech does not come without responsibility & consequence.

Choose your context correctly & it wouldn't be an issue.

Guessing you're just being your average Scotch racist though, so probably best not.

So, not all words and phrases move on?

Do you comment on any spazzes you see.

You are sophisticated in its original sense.

That's the most ridiculous post you've ever made.

Do you have a new meaning of the N word? I believe it's still used as a racist derogatory term aimed at black people, correct me if you know different.

Why would I comment on disabled people? I wouldn't normally notice them as disabled, never mind comment "on them". Maybe that's more your generation?

There is no line, you are allowed to say them all. That's free speech. But be aware that there's responsibilities & possible consequences attached to the words you use & how you use them.

So mong isn't a derogatory term which would offend some disabled people if uttered in their presence?
Like spazz. Or the N word would if uttered in their presence. Unless it was another IC3 uttering it of course, then it is OK?
