He looked a lot better second half of last season. Still not spectacular mind. Hopefully keeps on the upward trajectory.

Japanese media spoke to Yoshinori Muto about a potential move to #nufc at Haneda Airport. "I can't say yet but I should be able to deliver good news soon. "I believe I'll grow as a player if I put myself in a competitive environment."

Sounds like he's ruled himself out of a move to NUFC with that last sentence...

I am not sure about this Muto chap. I have to admit I have not seen much of him so I am just going off his stats and also what people who know better than me are saying.

Is he that much better than Joselu or Gayle, I do not know?

He's decent. Not the exceptional goal getter we need perhaps, but would still be a good signing. Better than Joselu. Better than Gayle has been. Still, we should really be looking to add someone really prolific too.

Would be interesting to see where he potentially plays - I'm assuming he's a striker (rather than someone who plays out wide or in the number 10 role sometimes).

Based on Rafa's playing style (1 up top, 3 behind and 2 sitting) maybe Muto is a direct replacement for Gayle - i/e will come off the bench most games/play in the cup.

Would that then mean we see Gayle head to West Brom for Rondon?

If we end up with Rondon, Muto and Joselu as our striking options for next season I'd see it as a slight improvement...

I presume this is the Ayo back-heel flick thing?

As for Ayo being the savior - I do think he is by far and away the best striker we have at the club currently. People forget he's 23/24 years old and still developing but his end of season form showed he can do it. I'd love to see him and Mitro up top in a 442 as they link with each other so well. I'd have Ayo playing further up chasing balls down and Mitro dropping a little deeper for flick on's and hold up to let midfield runners/wingers get up and support Ayoze.

i think Ayo and Mitro would be pretty decent up top and I would much prefer that to either gayle or joselu up front on their own or together. Ayo and Mitro have linked up well together in the past when they have played, Rafa seems to have faith in Perez so maybe, just maybe he can be the one to bring Mitro back into the picture. It's a pipe dream I know but i'm of the opinion that Mitro has a lot to offer, he seems to have matured a lot during his half season at Fulham and could solve a lot of problems for us and perhaps allow us to focus on a decent No 10 who can run the show in midfield.

Yep, Sky Sports have confirmed now too.

Hopefully they're both in for the Portugal trip - Rondon and Bryan next and we'll probably be done.

Mutu looks a Perez type forward (based on 50 seconds of you tube* <laugh>)

20 goals in 66 appearances for mainz

He only had a year left on his contract and again he's hardly prolific so I'd say probably a fair price. Nearly £10m though so he'll probably be twice as good as Joselu. If he gets 10+ goals I'll be impressed.

Schar, can't argue with for the price. Good to have another CB who's comfortable on the ball. Guessing this means Lascelles with Clark as his back up and Lejuene with Schar as his back up.

I reckon muto is the Mitro replacement and so we are going to see one in, one out and another cash profit.

Would expect Rafa was adamant that Mitro couldn’t go without a replacement so Charnley pulled out all the stops to get this guy.

“Look at the figures Mike, just look at em!”

Yep he does - looks decent, but not gonna get tonnes of goals, so Perez like in that respect.

So are we keeping Mitro then?

If so that would give us Perez, Mitro, Muto, Joselu and Gayle up front......so a bit of an abundance of meh strikers, and we really need to rid ourselves of the clown and the cripple at the end of that list.
