  1. Yeah the bit about the EU and the 11th hour is bang on - I always thought there was an element of theatricality about it tbh. Used to do December fish negotiations and they'd go on till 5AM despite the fact you knew everyone would agree to the compromise text tabled a day before <doh>

I got it, I was just wondering why you were being judgemental (that’s what happens in cases). You clearly don’t see it that way, and clearly people with strong opinions aren’t welcome here - well not if those opinions aren’t shared by the top clique.

Sorry, but I can’t be an anti-EU, anti- both tory and labour, pro-Trump, pro-Russia keyboard warrior. There’s enough of them on here already.

To be honest, I like that my posts get you riled. That way, there’s at least a small possibility that they make you think and go research. I don’t think enough people think for themselves on here, it’s all old cliches and whatever the Guardian or Sun says this week.

    Till next time...

Just reminding everyone what Farage said ahead of the referendum - you know, that thing we’ve been attacked for by more-patriotic-than-thou Leavers ever since.

One will never know, of course, but I doubt the calls for a second referendum would have been quite so vociferous. Naturally, the Farages of this world would’ve tried to make political capital from the result, and I suspect UKIP may have enjoyed a surge in popularity as many disappointed Brexiteers looked for somewhere to be together, but I don’t see the same sort of clamour. Others may see it differently.

  6. I'm well aware that a lot of remainers get flack from leavers but it's very far from being a one way street. Incidentally, some of us have never had an uncivil word directed at us when we say we voted remain. Just saying...

  7. I agree entirely and it wasn't really my point tbf. I meant that some people would have labelled us pinko, Romanian loving leftie ****s in the same way you guys are getting tarred as thick racists.

Well, just one more time then. There are dozens of people on here with strong views on a multitude of issues, as far as I am aware all are welcome as long as they play within the rules. Nobody is telling you or anyone else what you can or can’t be, unless you think any difference of opinion is an attempt to shut you up.

I happen to share your core views on Brexit, Trump, gun control and Russia, I think. You only need to have a look at the excessive numbers of posts I have on this and other relevant threads to see that. Others on here will confirm I’m sure. I suspect we have very different views on how best more positive outcomes on these things could be achieved, but we are starting from a similar place.

Your posts don’t rile me. They make me feel slightly ashamed that I might share some views with someone who expresses themself the way you do, with no interest in dialogue, debate, no possibility of anything other than conflict and grief unless your fellow posters agree with you. And absolutely no sense of humour. Perhaps I’m perversely envious of your certainty, which I no longer possess about most things, and haven’t since I was a teenager. But I don’t think so.

I post on here to have a chat, a debate on some things (which sometimes get feisty, and sometimes step over the line of board etiquette, which I immediately regret). Your final sentence shows the contempt that you hold your fellow posters in. That’s your right of course, but don’t expect to win any arguments, or any friends. Now I will put you on ignore, as there is clearly no point in carrying on this dialogue, and having seen your comments on football I don’t think you have anything to add there either.

Bet you still respond to this though.

I dislike your condescending attitude a lot more than your opinions.

I do. You just have to look at what Farage was saying hours before the result when it was looking like a narrow Remain win.

Yeah. I was gonna put that Farage is just a sideshow, but stuck with just saying he’d make political capital from a close Remain result. I don’t think much would’ve changed.

I’m not even sure Our Nige believed the referendum to be the best way to achieving a retreat from the EU.

I think we’d definitely have seen some defecting from Tory to UKIP and probably a UKIP win or two at the next GE, whenever that would have been, maybe even seventh time lucky for Farage himself.

Yeah, said that above (surge in popularity etc.). I just don’t think we’d have seen a campaign for a second referendum. We might have seem Farage continue to campaign for UKIP votes at a GE to bring about a Brexit, but not another referendum.

Do you think a Remain vote would have achieved Cameron’s desire, the silencing of the turbulent wing of his own party?

There’d have been a campaign but limited to a relatively small and particularly gammony share of the population.

    Anyway, Love Island time.
