so once again CM is the sole responsibility of a player half of his own fans don't rate . Personally i think Henderson can do a job but i would hope by the time the finals take place he is no longer first choice or else it is a sad indictment of our CM options.
I don't see him making the 1st team with the quality players we have about. He could maybe become a squad player, but I don't see him as a regular starter, for England. The lad himself is a big risk, he does have tendencies to self-destruct.
Thought Pool fans liked Henderson to be honest. He had a solid WC. England ain’t blessed with great CMs but judging by the way he played at the WC, he’s probably the best of a bad bunch.
i do though i'm probably in a minority on our board but i understand his limitations particularly since his injury.
thats the worry because atm there is no obvious alternative. Personally think you cannot play him in CM on his own like we did this WC . Would love to see a creative CM appear but have no idea where from though should have been Alli but he now just plays as an auxillary forward and seems more interested in flics/tricks than real football.
I think that’s the problem though, we don’t actually have that many quality CMs, especially from a creative aspect. The way Grealish played the last 4 or 5 months for Villa in the more deeper CM role was seriously impressive, completely controlled the game for them.
Fair dos. Before the WC I was clamouring for Dier to be the starting DM but after Henderson’s performances Dier has no chance of ousting him, especially as Dier himself was cack when he played. I think Henderson alongside a creative CM could really work for England. Southgate done a great job but he never addressed the lack of creativity from the centre of the park, Henderson ran his arse off and got in the mix of everything but he ain’t someone to rely upon to control a game and make things happen, if he has someone beside him that can, England could be a dark horse for the Euros because we’re pretty strong everywhere else.
I like him, decent player but he don’t play CM, not got the work rate for it. Better off on the edge of the box going for goal/ creating chances. Could well make the Euros though if he brings his Norwich form to you boys.
People purring about his debut at the weekend ... remains to be seen whether he can do it at the top table ... but we are blooding some fine young talent ... and most of it British ...
Yeah like I said he’s a decent player, I’d imagine he’ll do well for you. Watch a fair bit of the Championship plus highlights of games when I can, easily one of the best players in it last season. He ain’t a massive grafter (unless Puel changes that) but as long as you’ve got players to cover the dirty work, he’ll definitely grab goals and assists. Got a decent free kick in his locker as well.
We've got a young lad coming through called Embleton. He's played for all of the England youth set-ups and has broke into our first team squad. Brilliant on dead balls and finding the back of the net from range. A good creative midfielder. I'm not talking about the Euros for him, but potentially he's our next star coming out of the academy so he could be one for the future.
The Championship is dire, even though we were relegated I never seen more than a couple of better than average teams. Midfielders down there are absolute gash.
If Chalobah can get back to the form of early last season, he will be in the squad. He was called up last year before his injury, and was training with the squad just before the World Cup, so Gareth was wanting to keep him involved I'd like to see Will Hughes called up too, but competition in that area is probably a bit too strong... The team won't be too different from the WC though. Young probably won't be around, and squad-wise imagine Cahill, Jones and Welbeck won't be in it, and possibly not Vardy either
Angel Gomes will come and snatch that AM spot and then it's his for 10 years. ****ing Grealish, please. [Insert generic Mourinho will make him a great LB joke here].
