This race was won by the true rainmaster keeping ths slick tyres on track in wet conditions . Vettel take note.
I don't know whether it's any less so these days but traditionally Ferrari have always had clear number 1 and 2 drivers. It's pretty obvious who they are. As a number 2 you just have to finish second and be a rear gunner. Raikkonen has done well to hang onto his seat for so long when he often can't manage that. He has been much better at times this year but has no consistency at all. He's not been at his best for a long time, and even when he was he was inconsistent to say the least. I always got the feeling he had a lot of talent but was never the sort of driver to really apply himself to making himself better. Having said all that on his day when he's driving at his best he's a joy to watch.
I've not watched it yet, when in the race did it happen? If ages before the end then yes should have been dealt with at the time.
I don't think they'd want to tamper with result anyway. Raikkonen's penalty did not change the result that day. Maybe if it was going to they'd issue a grid drop for next time instead.
Charlie Whiting: "He was going to come into the pits - but he actually didn't come into the pits. He could get anything. A reprimand, a five or a ten second penalty..." Prob a reprimand then.
I'm actually pissed off that all of us are being deprived of a decent 1 on 1 battle for the title, down to these ****ty mistakes and reliability issues. Wasting my time behind the TV.
The battle is pretty good isn't it? The WDC lead is yo-yoing back and forth. Titles are won and lost on mistakes, and certainly reliability in the past. F1 is at least a bit more unpredictable this year. The racing still needs improving at the front, but when has it ever been truly great? The second half of the season is shaping up quite nicely.
Another thing is that Magnussen has a point about the "B Series" thing. F1 need to seriously implement some sort of cap and/or standardised parts to level the field. When something happens up front it would be nice to see a Renault or Haas take the last podium spot. Not be 40 odd seconds behind at the end of the race. Both Mercedes and Ferrari selfishly contributing to the embarrasing state of affairs at the moment.
I accept that. It's not nice to see the same people "not you specifically", criticize past actions (Ferrari era) and dismiss present day ones (Mercedes era). Just a tad hypocritical.
Second half will be super hot, expect firewords. Just want a wheel to wheel race from start to finish. No incidents, no engine failure, no bullshit.
