    It's a Happy 55th Birthday to Kim Shattuck of US punk-pop outfit The Muffs. Previously with The Pandoras, she was also very briefly bassist for The Pixies.

    71..Queen guitarist, songwriter (and astrophysicist) Brian May was born in Hampton, Middlesex in 1947...

    Not really a fan of Queen after about '76, although Under Pressure with Bowie is a classic. May's guitar sound is unique to him though...

    Ok, I think that I have done the 365 day cycle of music birthdays now so I'm going to take a trip and revisit my early record collection with a different year each week
    Prior to the year that I will start with I had a sorry handful of singles that my older brother had got tired of. In my last couple of years at school I started earning a bit from a paper round and odd jobs at the weekend so I had my first disposable income to spend and most of it went on buying LPs and singles!

    Ok where better to open 1977 than with this class war belter from the mighty Clash...

    This is still one of my favourite LPs, the guitar work by the two lead guitarists, Verlaine and Lloyd is just stunning throughout the whole album...
