I actually tried having a conversation with one of the Levy Out mob, and it was like trying to talk science with a flat earther. They bang on about how we shouldn't sign players cheaply when the combined fees for Alli, Dier and Trippier is 2/3 of what we paid for Janssen They say spending big brings success even paying record fees (at the time) for Paulinho and Soldado didn't prevent the two of them being duds They bang on about how we should sign known players only, even though half our team is made up of players who weren't big names when they signed They say it's Levy's fault Toby wants to leave, as if Toby hasn't played silly buggers with his contract just like Judas did before leaving for nothing They compare our trophy haul to Chelsea and The Sheikh Mansour Team, failing to see how that defeats their own argument stone dead Most of all, just like Harry Hotspur kvetching about us not signing the players he wants us to sign (yet failing to suggest who we actually sign in case he's exposed as a misanthropic bore with nothing worth saying), they demand Levy leave yet fail to suggest who should run the club - even though Levy leaving the club could just as easily see us lumbered with a Glazer-like using the club as their personal ATM or a Venkys-like having absolutely no clue what to do and seeing the club collapse as it could see us have some billionaire buy success to satisfy their own ego.
We should thank our lucky stars that Daniel Levy is a Spurs fan. Just look around you to see what he has achieved with the infrastructure and the management and the team. Do not waste your time talking to morons.
"B-b-b-but he isn't doing enough" they wail, sounding suspiciously similar to the gutter press' coverage of Jeremy Corbyn for the past three years.
It is nowhere near this clear IMO. RM are not going to not ''replace '' CR7 and thus Bale will once again be demoted. He will not be their number 1 player. United with all their noise are busy spending money- they will not be left with enough- besides what with: Fred; Martial; Rashford Sanchez etc...... I can't see Sarri going for him. He has already made his money and if he comes back to us and turns us into winners he will receive legend status which is what players want. he won't get that elsewhere.
It's also worth noting that Ronaldo wasn't the one keeping Bale out of the side under Zidane, it was Vasquez. So if Real sign Hazard/ Neymar and Lopetegui sticks with Vasquez, Bale's situation wouldn't have changed. I still don't think he'll leave Madrid BUT, if he does, I think we'll be up there to sign him. We can't match his £350k a week deal outright but we can offer a package that can likely see him earn around £275k-£300k a week if he's playing well, similar to Harry. If what his agent said was true the other week in that all Bale cares about is playing and not the money, I don't see why he wouldn't rejoin us should he choose to leave Real.
He won't come back, he doesn't wanna be in Winks' pocket every day in training like he was when we played them
I think Modric coming back and showing the rest of the team that passing the ball forward actually works would be the icing on the cake. It wouldn't surprise me either, Levy is not going to want to finish outside of the top 4 ever, but in our first season home, no way. Now the new kit is out I expect to see the signings start. It also wouldn't surprise me if a 'stalking horse' team puts in a very low bid for each of them, remember Spurs have an buy-back option on each of them to match the highest bidder.
True, i was just joshing. Modric is actually the perfect person to come in for Winks to learn from. Plus he'd be a mega addition to our starting XI. Not holding my breath
Modric has won everything except the World Cup. Close, but not close enough. He is 32, if he wants to have another go he will be 36. In order to have another chance he needs to be playing at the top level in 4 years time. That is unlikely if he stays at Madrid. A move might just suit him. A 4 or 5 year deal a Spurs might just be ideal for him. If he waits another couple of years before moving the right move may no longer be available. Levy is no fool, he's letting all of the other teams do their business and spend their money. Less competition means lower prices. I think it will be a very interesting last 21 days of the transfer window.
