And another. I think Roux and Maiga would both be terrible signings, and certainly not ahead of Ba, Best etc in the pecking order.

I don't like the idea of Santon and Jonas on the same flank either, we'd be too narrow (compared to if we signed a natural left back) and too congested in the centre of the park going forward. I like Beatski's team and formation, I'd ditch Marveaux for Obertan though.

Don't understand why people are calling for Simpson to be replaced, he was touted for England end of last season? Just because he hasnt started very well (3 games in to the season) doesnt mean we should go around replacing him, what about tiote? replace him too?

Give the man a break, hes the best right back we've had in a long long time.

I'd say he was quite good so far to be honest.

You are forgetting we are newcastle united.. we have great fans.. unfortunately with the numbers we have, some fans expect our players to instantly become world beaters and be capable of tearing up the champions league. and will become disgruntled with a good solid player who will put a shift in but not exactly set the world alight.

You know. Even without a new striker. That still looks really strong.

<doh> to all the Journo's and "experts" who say our team has been weakened <doh> <doh> <doh> and <doh>

I like that side. Push Jonas and Marveaux further up and make it a 4-2-3-1 man marking nightmare with the 3 behind the striker constantly rotating. That team still has Ba, Gosling, Guthrie, Williamson etc on the bench as well.

Yeah I like. This of course depends if Best continues his form. Hopefully he can bag a couple against the likes of QPR, Blackburn and Aston Villa(next couple of games). <ok>

Its easy to forget about Gosling, and Guthrie. Add on to that Vuckic, Ferguson, Albeid, and Sameobi. Also...Ben Arfa!

Jesus, guys....we actually have a strong squad. A really strong squad. Forgive me for being 'deluded'. But there is no reason why we shouldnt be pushing for europe this season.

Im starting to feel abit like I did in 2003 haha.

Well but remember we also have the likes of Lovenkrands(past it), Smith(past it since we got promoted) and Perch at the club. Hopefully we'll shift them sooner rather than later. <ok>

Maybe I was going too far. Had a real sudden burst of excitement haha. But, there is no denying, we have a good squad. Despite what people say.

Pundits only ever seem to look at new signings as well. They forget that Saylor, Gosling and Ben Arfa were missing for huge parts of last season and are like new signings (even if thats what Ashley wants us to think).

We have to remember however that whilst Santon is potentially a good signing, he could still be a flop. Ba, Gosling & Marveaux still need to prove themselves and Ben Arfa may not be the same after this length out with only a few weeks being fit. We also have the lkes of Ranger, Lovenkrands, Smith & Ameobi who I think are deadwood and we would be better off without them. The youngsters such as Vuckic & Sammy are yet to be tested against top opposition as well. Not trying to be pessimistic but we haven't become a certain top ten team all of a sudden.

I will be a very happy man if we sign a left back tomorrow and play Santon at right back

Nolan Roux might not be the finished product or even anywhere near it and perhaps if he do sign him then he should not be first choice, but he is suppose to have a massive potential.

    http://frenchfootballweekly.com/2011/06/22/nolan-roux-top-prospect-linked-with-liverpool/

Many people have put us in a 4-2-3-1 formation but while I would like us to play that I do not think we will, Jonas and Obertan track back too much so I think they will not play that far forwards. Another thing with that formation is that it would prevent Cabaye from attacking because then that would leave us quite exposed. So I think Pardew will play when everyone is fit just 4-4-1-1.

Also does anyone know how good Santon is with his left foot? If he is like Guti and is natually right footed but strong with his left foot as well then I do not think it will be much of a problem playing them both down the left.

I hate playing with one striker, but when all of our midfield players are fit its definitely the most sensible option.
