With all the talk about our lack of striker options and nothing happening on the transfer market . Why does Hess not just give Rooney that start he wants up front with whoever else is fit . We might all be pleasantly surprised !
Roo seems to be more of a wide player who can really torture a full back on his day. However nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose!
Or more likely we may regret it. What has changed from the last couple of years when Rooney has disappointed every time he starts? The one thing that may have changed is that he looks unable to avoid a red card if by any chance he had to play more than 20 mins. He is well suited to his current role running against tired defenders in the last quarter. When he has gone 5 games as sub without a card he might warrant a start.
Who would you want up front,Payne,Oli or Roon.Only one of them can score a goal.Give Rooney a chance.
Rooney scored 6 goals preseason playing just off the striker, why put him on the wing? Stick him in the hole behind Kedwell and lets answer the question once and for all, can he cut it ?
