It does when we play the formation we’re planning on playing. Bringing the wingers and Toral/Irvine into play. Dicko certainly can’t do that job (as much as I rate him) nor can he get on crosses from the wingers. A big man doesn’t mean you ‘lump’ it up front all the time. That would more be down to poor coaching/instruction.
Agree, like any player it's how you use them. A big, physical, centre forward would give us an extra dimension and I also think it's what we need.
Agreed. We were far too lightweight up front last season. We need a threat from set pieces and someone who can rough defenders up a bit. A Jon Parkin type of player - but a bit more athletic.
Our local post box has shown more physical agility than Parkin. Still, he had good feet for a big man.
Charlie Wyke at Bradford is exactly we are looking for. Holds the ball up. Good in the air and at feet. Downside is he’s not the fastest. Ehab won’t pay the £1m needed though
We play 4-2-3-1. I'd have thought the number 10 was the one bringing people into play. I'm not saying a big striker is useless, but all the ones we've had have been fair to crap. Hernandez was 6ft 1 but he was no target man. N'Doye was a decent size and did ok but he didn't pull up any trees. Cousin was the last half decent big lad we had up front and he wasn't that great. On a par with JVoH.
Completely agree, if a team want a "target man" you need a second player near to them. The way we play needs a mobile forward with good movement to pull into/create space. Would like a forward with a bit of a nasty edge though to rattle defenders
