1904: FOOTBALL: BBC Sport understands that Sunderland have not yet made a bid for Peter Crouch and are looking at a number of players before making a move in the transfer market.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you there it is our money, we are the ones who buy our season tickets, strips merchandise etc etc. If we didn't do that the club couldn't spend a penny especially with the new fifa rules.

The thing is Ellis supposedly called Crouch a pussy for not signing when he had the chance. I don't think he would sanction this unless he's giving Bruce enough rope to hang himself.

Sorry Cest, but if he is that f*cking good why are the spuds desperate the sell him.

He has turned us down twice, but will happily come to us for a bumper pay packet at the END of his career.

I also think you will find he WAS a England International - cannot see him making the Euros squad next year.

Totally overpriced - THIS WILL END IN TEARS.

Whilst I do not want the lanky t w a t here, I do hope he makes me eats my words.

Thank god we have such a fine, upstanding organisation as FIFA in charge.

    Makes you proud.

10 million is ridiculous, mainly because he will have zero re-sale value and will probably be our highest earner. Crouchie is decent, but creating chances doesn't seem to be much of an issue, its taking them we have a major problem with and neither Gyan or Sess can hit a barn door with a banjo at the minute. Would prefer Papisse Demba Cisse, as he is young, strong and quick, with immense re-sale value. Therefore good for the here and now and also good for the future, whether we keep him or sell him. I like Crouchie, but the fee is crazy.

5 million tops no sell on value....if the wages are around 80 thousend per week.. why didnt we give Bent that or zogggie... Very strange....cannot believe that the price is true, its going to be a very long ball game from now on.... crouch is just not the prolific goal scorer that we need........I will even start to doubt Bruces ability if he pays 10 milllion for crouch and 80 thousand a week ...i cannot see it myself its paper bollocks i hope.I think we are getting desperate especially if we sell ferdy for 1 million this reminds me of the rushed waghorn sale...Kaka..anyone

I agree mate. No way is he worth £10m, £5-6m tops for me. Yes, he would bring experience to our forward line, but as you say, he is not a prolific striker and we will be playing a lot more hoof ball than we already are!

Not as good as Kenwyne who has outscored crouch in 3 of the last 4 seasons in a much worse team and he's younger.

Nobody is interested in what you have to say, so why don't you run along and find another forum.

The more I think about this the more I think it's bollox. Short, Bruce and Quinn have been really shrewd in the Market over the last few years, I can see him coming here on loan or for a cut price but not 10m. Let's hope this is like the Fuller stories in Jan and it does not happen.

    I am preying anyway.

It'l be even longer if we get him!!! 10mil is way too much for his age, his wages could piss other players off when they see what he's on and to top it off he already knocked us back as he doesn't want to play for us and likes the big city life, when he gets bored here spurs will buy him back for 3mil! why go in for a player like this?? On the plus side though his lass is well fit!!!!!

I see we're also linked with macheda and samaras, 2 more quality strikers, perhaps between the 3 of them they may hit the 20+ goals per season we lost when bent left

Fulham have just had a bid of 10.6 accepted for Bryan Ruiz from Twente surely this is better value for money.

Looking at last year, the big issue for me was lack of experience. Crouch, Brown & O Shea bring vast CL & World cup experience which will be a huge benefit during the season.

I think Crouch would be a good signing and i could imagine him hitting the kind of form he hit at Southampton and Portsmouth.

N.B. 10 Million is a bit steep mind.
