I'm surprisingly chilled...I think it's because getting here is an achievement for this young team. All in the lap of the gods now. Nice to hear Southgate say that this team hasn't reached the best it can be yet because they are so young and will gain with experience. Sounds promising and remember that our younger players are also doing well in competitions.
I'm so nervous already. Maybe I still have the old England team in my head. This isn't meant to happen. We normally go out before this. We are so close. It's the hope that kills.....
Absolutely. Before a ball was kicked in this tournament, a French sports journalist friend (of a friend) said he was very impressed with English setup, and that this team could achieve something really special in the next 2-4 years. I think he's right, except it's happening 2 years early, so whatever happens tonight we have a lot to look forward to. Be nice to reach the final though.
I think we'll beat Croatia. Not that it'll be easy, but I think if we play with freedom and confidence, we should have too much for them. Even though they have Modric. That French team, on the other hand, look a bit good.
I know Southgate is positive and has infused that into the team, but I wonder if he truly thought we would get this far or whether he thought that this was a tournament to help him blood this team ready for Euro 2020.
Gents, I wish you the very worst for tonight and also to get your revenge against Belgium saturday evening. May the biggest bastards win!
Looking ahead to 2020 (as WC holders of course ), I see London has the semi-finals and final (as well as other matches)….should be a good party.
Lot of potentially interesting things tactically tonight. If I were the Croatia manager I would be putting Mandzukic on the left wing like he plays for Juve, would stop Trippier being able to push on as much as he normally does and Mandzukic will have the beating of him in the air which gives possibilities with the diagonal ball. A very close game to call I think, can't really pick a winner until I see how both teams set up.
Had to go out and get my lucky fairy cakes as they've got England to the WC semi-finals. Sometimes a woman has gotta do what a woman has to do #selfsacrificing
I wish you well mate and the best of luck. You’re a good side and a nation I’ve always enjoyed football wise, after all you did **** off the Wally with the Brolley for us and we’ll always be grateful for that. It is however, coming home. #ich
Woop, woop........ Last night the penny finally dropped at work, with over 2,000 on tonight's shift senior managers heard rumblings of lots of people going sick due to the refusal to show the game. And hey presto we were allowed to vote and the result this morning is that they WILL be showing the game Come on England.......it's coming home
This is truly wonderful. The power of sport to unite people. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-en...s-david-baddiel-moved-by-down-s-group-tribute It's coming home
