Morning all. Still dark but another very hot day here for sure. Need to clean the air conditioning filters. We've resisted until now using just fans but with family coming down from madrid for a four week stay - we'll be 7 people and two dogs - it will be needed.

At least I'll have brother-in-law here as a converted Engerland supporter. :emoticon-0169-dance:emoticon-0170-ninja

On the wine front I would like to mention that Spain is full of very special local wines that equal much French production in taste/quality, and for a much lower price. But as Spain stiffles entrepreneurism in any form they remain hidden. For examle we have a red here we buy for 1.59 Euros a bottle. Blind tasting says it is not identifiable for most mortals from 10 Euros a bottle stuff :emoticon-0100-smile

However, where in our villiage 'El Puerto' we buy sherry in our own containers they also sell vinegar. Often wondered where all that vinegar went <laugh>

Well now 36 or so hours before our dreams are shattered, or the momentum is maintained. At least we get to see Belgium and France to distract us. A game we can enjoy because at this stage who cares which we get. It seems it is ours to throw away or grasp with both hands.

Enjoy your day everyone. As for me can't get "It's coming home <whistle>" out of my head <cheers>

Morning all, another hot one coming up. The watering of my veggies is in full swing with success as I picked the first of my haricot vert last night, and very tasty they were. I have said here over the past few months how my broadband speed has risen dramatically. There is a table of measured speeds produced annually comparing countries around the world. France has risen fourteen places in that table reflecting the drive that was put in place by the government to upgrade the system, but still has a way to go before it catches up with Sweden or Denmark. Unfortunately the UK is slipping down the table as others upgrade much faster, especially in the eastern European countries.

OFH you lucky bean eater. That is really what I miss here in the deep south. Sadly the burning sun and being limited to a patio (a very large one it should be said) has several negatives. Nothing is like the taste of fresh produce taken from stalk to plate in minimal time. At best I have coriander, basil, parsley and chillies; but it isn't the same :emoticon-0145-shake

And please ignore previous weather forecast. It has gone cloudy with a fresh breeze. Very pleasant indeed. Will make the trip to the village much more comfortable <cool>. Cooking lamb, spinach and chickpea curry today by request . I'll convert the spanish to good food eventually :emoticon-0136-giggl.

We've been harvesting our beans for the last few days Frenchie - once you have done it once you need to do it every day because picking them seems to stimulate the rest.

Just back from the baker who was ready for the game tonight. Painted cheeks, a football shirt that didn't take account of the pastries he eats, and flags outside the shop. I noticed that one of the two bars was having plenty of additional bottles delivered. I think that unless you live in a town things will be very quiet tonight.

I don't know if anyone else has followed the story of those 12 little boys trapped in a cave in Thailand. Two weeks later and they have now all been rescued along with their coach. A brilliant and difficult rescue job. Never mind honours for nonentity politicians and celebrities, how about medals for the heroism and bravery of those who risked their lives to save the children.

But not very well thought out. These kids need time with their families. They may need specialist help. And the foreign helpers will want to get back to their families. And the Thai helpers also although the active military I imagine would have a hard time swanning off.

To fly them off to a world cup final seems more beneficial to the givers than the receivers.

I think the Man U offer makes far more sense. And financial help for the families might be money better spent.

Yes many heroes but equally heroes at Phuket rescuing people from a sea of 4 meter+ waves

Well a day begins. A new day. A special day. And the nerves build as the seconds count down.

You can grab little extra hopes in the press "I expect England to beat Croatia," former Scotland winger Pat Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 live."They are more powerful, and they will cause France problems." :emoticon-0148-yes: but it doesn't mean much now. More importantly did they all sleep well. Can the gaffer find the inspirational words. Can he keep Sterling's frustrations pointing in the right direction. Can Henderson mature even more as a leader. Can Harry Kane say "That golden boot is mine but I still want more".

Here looks like another slightly cooler day with some clouds - quite still. It is although nature knows what today means.

If it wasn't for the family sleeping I'd already be playing my first "It's coming home"

Enjoy the next 12 hours if you can :emoticon-0107-sweat:emoticon-0107-sweat:emoticon-0107-sweat:emoticon-0107-sweat:emoticon-0107-sweat

Bad luck yorkie but remember at 19:12 when you feel a slight earth tremour, that'll be Sterling being crushed under a huge bundle of English players <laugh>
