More my observation really, thought you might have an opinion on whether you consider him an upgrade.
Sheffield united fans said he was the best keeper in the league last season,so hopefully a fair bit better, supposed to be very good on crosses.
Dunno fella to be honest, can’t say I’ve seen much of him. Just know he’s very tall! BPF is very inexperienced but showed a lot of potential. This lad is older with 2 years of league experience so I guess the assumption is he’ll be first choice. I guess the fear is the only way to see how bpf does over a season would be to give him experience but i admit it’s a risk if you’re serious about promotion. This way we have two young talented keepers and if one has a dip in form/confidence we have a viable alternative. Not much different than if Gunn had come. What we don’t have is an experienced old pro used to pressure cooker situations. Whether we need one? Well time will tell.
The funny thing is Ristac that I reckon Bielsa pretty much knew the score before taking the gig and maybe the challenge for him is to turn a few of our youngsters who did pretty well last season into players who can step up to Championship level and compete. Radz probably doesn't trust Orta to blow another transfer kitty and spending a few million on Bielsa who he hopes can work the oracle probably felt like a shrewd move. I hope he pulls it off but he will need to go some to get the required improvement out of the rest of the squad. Wolves tried this 4-5 seasons ago with Solbakken. Unfortunately a few rotten apples who couldn't adjust to his style poisoned the dressing room and it soon went pear shaped. Funnily enough, a few of them were on long term contracts and very hard to shift. I want to be positive and see the signs of some kind of turnaround, but it's hard work as a Leeds fan.
We need 2 keepers fighting for the place, just for competition to aid progression. If one's guaranteed to start our management need shooting.
Though Gunn must be highly rated of if Southampton are prepared to fork out 10 million+ when they already have McCarthy and Forster at the club so pity we didn't get him. I said on previous posts he wouldn't get in ahead of Ederson who's still only 24 and might have stayed if we could have got promoted (which I have to admit looks extremely unlikely if the squad stays as is).
Sickening that we are being used by Chelsea to put their reserves in the shop window so they can get a few dollars more when they sell them on. Back to square 1 next year, if not worse as BPF will probably want out and who could blame him.
I hope BPF gets a fair crack of the whip, can't for the life of me understand giving game time to another clubs player when we have a good young player already, I know BPF is inexperienced but why not give him at Elland Road, he's gonna be a great 'keeper and we could lose him, not happy about Paudie O'Connor going out on loan either he's miles better than that calamitous twat Cooper Bielsa OUT!!! argie ****
Calm bud, though I agree on both - loved Paudie last year, takes no s*** from anyone. I just want Radz to spend a huge wedge to prove he's not just milking the fans like the rest. Oh, and getting us up at the same time, obviously.
He will have been at the non diverse Great Yorkshire show in Harrogate with the rest of the white folks
BPF has to take positives from us signing someone on loan. It means it's not the end of the world for him, even if the loanee is considered to be #1 (which I don't think will be a guaranteed position). He must surely realise that he's been given a HUGE opportunity to be our #1 for years to come. If we signed someone permanently, he might be excused for letting his head drop, but a loan? - got to be a reason to be cheerful for him. Got to get his act together to repay the faith in him.
