Number rescued revised down from 6 to 4 and media have been told it will take 9-12 hours to be ready to mount a further rescue. Divers exhausted I would think.
https://uk.yahoo.com/news/thai-rescuers-evacuate-cave-area-rescue-bid-trapped-005402542--sow.html As said, rescue suspended to give time for the rescuers to recoup. Apparently boys were escorted by 3 divers with others positioned at intervals along the route....which has a rope to hold onto as there is a strong outward current. This strong current has been making it hard for divers going into the cave as they are fighting it all the way....but this may help the youngsters as long as they don't get swept away. Interestingly it has been said that the Thai government should be congratulated for realising straight away that they needed experts and flying them in all expenses paid. A caving expert said this is actually quite rare with many countries in the past have not wanted to admit they need help. Pride I suppose, but no room for that with lives at stake.
Do you remember the Kursk ? cannot remember if it was British or US ships that were ready to help ( Think it was British ) But the Russians denied anything was wrong . When they asked for help , it was too late .
Apparently it's an 11 hour round trip to rescue these boys....gives us some understanding of why it can't be faster.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-44760896 Rescue believed to have restarted with ambulances moved to cave entrance again. The boys rescued yesterday said to be in good health. A comprehensive review of situation (from the BBC) with map of caves showing how hazardous this rescue is and a list of the boys names. Confirmed that rescue has restarted. A Thai government official said it went better than expected yesterday and they had brought out the 4 healthiest boys yesterday. I didn't understand why the media kept saying they brought out the weakest....when testing something for the first time...you would use the ones most likely to make it. And their reported success would encourage the others.
https://news.sky.com/story/uk-to-expand-navy-in-north-atlantic-amid-growing-russian-threat-11430721 The Navy is expanding its operations in the North Atlantic (as is the USA) because of an increased level of threat from Russia. The Russians have been active near the undersea cables that are part of world communications....and steps are being taken to protect the cables from interference. Thought the fall of the Soviet Union had put a stop to this, but nothing ever really changes, does it?
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...urist-boat-sinking-climbs-to-41-idUSKBN1JX05Q Two of the missing passengers from the Day trip boat tragedy in Phuket the other day, have washed up on the beach this morning 100 meters away from where I work, on Phi Phi Island. That means they have travelled over 40km to get here. Wouldn't be surprised if a few more aren't in the area.
Anyone just see some planes go over? Missed something noisy but saw 5 flying together which circled overhead. No idea what they were.
