    No way we would pay anything near that for a player and I actually wouldn't take the risk.

    Gyan springs to mind who we all know is no better than Ameobi

    they said they were in advanced talks surely player must have rejected wages. Still hope we can get him :)

    I think they were bullshitting about the advanced stage. They allegedly offered 2m which is 500k less than West Ham offered a few weeks back when their bid was rejected. So probably just their chairman publicly talking up the move to unsettle Gradel further with the no doubt tantalizing prospect of top-flight French football, and of course to appease the fans who are desperate to see this Maiga fella suitably replaced if he ends up going.

    Simon Grayson said he wanted West Ham to triple their 2m+ offer, and while I don't believe a word that comes out of the man's mouth, I don't think Sochaux will be meeting our considerable asking price (if indeed we have one). Sorry Newcastle fans.
