Chris Martin is not travelling to the canaries with Derby FC. "He has issues to deal with" Really not sure on him (is he Matt Smith in disguise)...Hugill I can get more excited about
Would take Smith over Martin any day. Martin looked awful when he was relatively young and fit. Now he’s 29 going on 39 and a good stone overweight for a pro footballer.
Agree WWR....... and if you look at Matt Smith in Portugal...he has done a lot of summer work, he looks half the man he was this time last year. Matt Smith will do for me as the big, awkward CF role, but we need a tricky fast clever forward role covered, which does not seem to be Conor
Well if Martin comes he gets my support. Agree with Beth and others though that we've got Smith in that role and surely Sylla is the back up.

ADVERTISEMENT please log in to view this image QPR’s new signing Toni Leistner has admitted that a conversation with new boss Steve McClaren was enough to convince him to make the move to Loftus Road. The 27-year-old centre-back turned down a new contract with Union Berlin to become McClaren’s first signing as manager. He is a friend of former R's frontman Sebastian Polter and revealed conversations with his fellow German, along with boss McClaren, persuded him to make the move to west London. Leistner said: “He [Polter] told me only good things about QPR. He said the fans were crazy, positive and he loved playing here. “I also met the manager and he convinced me with the style he wants to play. It made my choice easy. “QPR is a big club and a traditional club so it’s good to be here. “I like to play football the hard way. I love the physical side of the game and I hope I can give the supporters a lot.” Leistner’s capture adds crucial strength and depth to the squad after the loss of Nedum Onuoha, Jack Robinson and James Perch, and with Grant Hall returning from injury. “He [Leistner] has been much sought after,” said manager McClaren. “He’s run his contract down and many people were chasing his signature from the Bundesliga and the Championship. “I have watched him play, we have done a lot of character references on him and I went out to Berlin to meet him, to look him in the eye and speak with him. “He is a leader, a winner and dominant in the air but also can play, so he seems an ideal fit for how we want to go forward.”
The backroom staff ................ Meet Steve McClaren's new-look backroom staff as QPR prepare for the Championship season QPR are being put through their paces at a warm-weather training camp in Portugal as they look to get in shape for the new season. 1COMMENT By Phil Spencer 18:04, 2 JUL 2018 QPR WATCH NEXTHow much QPR's squad is worth as they prepare for the new Championship season QPR are being put through their paces at a warm-weather training camp in Portugal as they look to get in shape for the new season. Following Ian Holloway's departure, there's a whole host of new faces in the Hoops coaching set-up as manager Steve McClaren looks to take the young talent at the club to the next level. But what do we know about the key figures in the new backroom team at Loftus Road? Steve McClaren (manager) The new QPR boss has a particularly impressive CV. After doing coaches roles at Derby County and Manchester United, McClaren took his first management role with Middlesbrough where he won the club's first trophy in 128 years, before guiding the team to their best Premier League finish and a place in the then UEFA Cup final. He's since won the Eredivisie title with FC Twente while also having spells with England, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Wolfsburg and Newcastle United. please log in to view this image (Image: Getty Images Europe) Les Ferdinand (director of football) Ferdinand had an illustrious playing career as he represented QPR, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham among others. Now 51, the former striker now leads the club's recruitment efforts, handling both the incoming and outgoing deals at the club. Garry Penrice (Chief scout) Penrice is another staff member who enjoyed a playing career at Loftus Road. As well as the Hoops, he played for Bristol Rovers, Aston Villa and Watford before making the move into management, where he was Ian Holloway's number two at both Bristol Rovers and QPR. Since then, Penrice has held a range of role in scouting and recruitment for Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City and Stoke City before returning to Loftus Road as a recruitment consultant in May 2017. John Eustace (assistant manager) The former midfielder enjoyed a successful playing career with clubs including Coventry City, Stoke City, Watford and Derby County - where he featured under Steve McClaren. please log in to view this image (Image: Getty Images Europe) Regarded by many as a model pro, Eustace retired early due to injury and took his first management role with National League side Kidderminster Harriers, leading them to two successive play-off finishes in his two years in charge. He'll now be hoping to learn from McClaren as he uses his own management experience to help QPR. Matt Gardiner (assistant coach) Gardiner enjoyed a playing career at non-league level before turning his attentions towards coaching. After being part of the management team at Worcester City, the 44-year-old moved to Kidderminster Harriers as the Head of Coaching, where he worked alongside QPR number two, John Eustace. Gardiner developed something of a reputation for identifying and developing talent from non-league football - something that he'll be hoping to replicate at Loftus Road. QPR given boost in hunt for Chris Martin as striker is left behind from Derby's pre-season trip Gavin Ward (goalkeeping coach) A former Premier League goalkeeper, Ward made his name playing for clubs such as Aston Villa, Leicester City, Cardiff and Stoke City. He moved into coaching with a role at Shrewbury Town, before moving to Nottingham Forest as the goalkeeping coach. Ward joined QPR from Burton Albion after the appointment of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and has gone on to do tremendous work in the coaching and development of Alex Smithies, Matt Ingram, Joe Lumley and Seny Dieng. Championship side lead the chase for Jordan Hugill but face competition for West Ham forward Chris Ramsey (head of coaching) After a playing career with Brighton, Swindon Town and Southend, Ramsey moved into coaching in the Maltese Premier League before taking on the role of Regional Director of Coaching for the FA. Ramsey went on to coach the England under-20 team, before becoming a scout for senior England manager Kevin Keegan. please log in to view this image (Image: Getty Images Europe) Following a spell in the USA, Ramsey was appointed Head of Player Development at Tottenham Hotspur where he stayed for 10 years before joining QPR as Head of Player Development and Academy manager. Ramsey took on the role of caretaker manager after the departure of Harry Redknapp, before being appointed full-time manager after QPR's relegation to the Championship. After a spell with Spurs under Tim Sherwood, Ramsey returned to the Hoops at technical director in January 2016 - a role which has evolved to see him oversee coaching at the club from youth and junior level right the way through to the senior team.
Trent Sainsbury anyone? please log in to view this image Championship clubs Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers are keen on securing Australia's World Cup standout, Trent Sainsbury, according to reports. The 26-year-old centre back, who is looking for a quick return to Europe, received five offers off the back of his performance against France, in the Socceroos opener, and impressed against Denmark. Football Insider now reports that Villa and QPR are keen to bolster their defences and have tageted the Jiangsu Suning man. With Sainsbury in the final year of his contract at the Chinese Super League outfit the financially-strapped Villans might believe there's a deal to me made. Such a move would unite the defender with Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak, provided he survives the fire sale at Villa Park. Fellow Socceroo, Massimo Luongo, plays for QPR. But both clubs might be in for a fight with Sainsbury's agent, Tony Rallis, telling Fairfax Media that interest in the Perth-born international has skyrocketed. https://www.fourfourtwo.com.au/news/championship-clubs-target-sainsbury-496640
Another Aussie in the team would be good. Good young solid defender ....................... just the ticket.
Not sure about this one... if they'll allow us to collect Nectar Points whenever we watch him at LR I'll be ok with this bit of business.
Take your pick from: Heinz Lidl William Morrison Thierry Carrefour Roberto Esselunga Diego Tesco Kevin Safeway (keeper) Brendan Walmart Pep Aldi James Seven-Eleven Err......you get my drift. I’m here all week.
Pep Aldi, confident lad, bit too flamboyant at times and weak in the tackle but will certainly create a few chances for the forwards, as long as we can get him on the cheap and his wages aren't too much, gotta be worth a punt
Seems we've signed West Ham's U-18 captain despite him being offered a new contract by the Hammers. Not massively exciting, but encouraging that he would want to come to us. https://thisisfutbol.com/2018/07/blogs/premier-league/wells-leaves-west-ham-for-qpr/
Sounds very promising, for me one of the main reasons you give someone captaincy is because he is considered a regular. Nothing to blow my load over but certainly no complaints
Definately one for the future...but great news that he wants to earn a full contract with us....by taking his chance ion a 1 year u23 contract. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/07/0...r-confirm-capture-of-west-ham-defender-wells/ That also is interesting regarding our u23 CDs Phillips, Fox and Williams...is one of them good enough to start for the 1st team....Phillips is the nearest I think. Anyone know?
Forest have now signed Grabban from Bournemouth on a 4 year deal. They just have to go up this year or they are in the doggy-do-dah....but with theirs dodgy owner do they care... I bet their real fans do... Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
