Belgium v Japan What a second half!!! Great comeback and win for Belgium. Martinez got his subs and tactic change spot on. All credit to Japan for their part in the game.
felt sorry for Japan they gave it a right go; amazingly Fellaini changed the game for Belgium, not just his aerial threat when he got the ball to feet japan just didn't know what to do with him.
Always had a soft spot for Fellaini...feel he's often been unfairly criticised. Remember watching him in a game for Everton v Man U. & he was virtually unplayable.
Mourinho must like him, he's offered him another contract. Can't say I like him. Gets away with a lot of nasty fouls and looks a bit lumbering, but every now and then, like last night, he looks sublime. Like you sayer, I also felt for Japan. They played some lovely stuff, especially down the channels and with their switching of play. Something to analyse there. Hope Colin was watching.
It was too late for me to watch the Japan game and it sounds like I missed a blinder. All the big teams are failing to impress thus far.I won't be watching the minnows tonight as it's another late game.
Try and watch the second half on catch up. Absolutely stunning game. Japan were well worth their 2-0 lead but Martinez changes made the difference. Japan played some sublime stuff. Great team performance with no little skill.
Colombian penalty takers who missed. Be very afraid. In 1994 Andres Escobar scored an own goal which resulted in Colombia being eliminated from the World Cup. He was murdered on his return to Colombia. They may never go home.
Hate matches decided by penalties. Must be a better way. Still not as bad as being booted out of the WC on more yellow cards. That is ridiculous given the differential and inconsistency in refereeing decisions.
Every 5 minutes each side has to take a player off. First one to score.plenty of space on the pitch when it's 5 a side.
Safer in Russia as long as they are selective about which city they chose. Would need some very warm clothes too.
