Hasn't he been stalling on a contract for months now? I'm sure he was in talks to sign one earlier this year, but so far no deal has been agreed.

If so, it would make sense that Pards & co are bringing in a replacement for him in Santon whilst the transfer window is open. I mean lets face it, if Simpson goes we have no cover, so NUFC would have to take the plunge now to sign a replacement while they still can. Perhaps we might see the shock departure of Simpson?

It also ties in with what I read earlier, where Bailey said we're in for Santon, a striker and a LB.

Mmm.. well I must admit IF WE GET Santon AND a LB(Pieters/Cissico).. why not sell him?

If Simpson is refusing to sign a new contract then we well might do that. I'm sure talks started months and months ago, so if there's still no new contract, something is wrong.

Simpson over-rates himself, so is probably asking for too high wages, so if we do sign Santon and Pieters/Cissokho, then he can go and Raylor, Taver, Gosling and Fergie/Kadar can cover full-back positions.

Pieters and Cissokho are both looking unlikely, so I'd keep him.

If he's refusing to sign a contract he must be expecting something better from another club.

Recall him being linked with Villa not long ago, but they're after Hutton so that's a non-starter. If we signed Santon and a LB then it's probably curtains for Danny. However, if Santon is the only full back we sign then he's got no problems. I'm happy with him at RB for the time being. He's got a good understanding with Taylor and Colo, and we've only conceded 1 goal in 3 PL games so he can't be too shabby.

He's still got 2 years left though hasn't he, and he won't be on big wages. What's the rush?

Arnt qpr in for him? Heard talks have stalled its been a few months since we offered hima five year deal. He's been poor for a while now, havnt seen a good performance since arsenal away last year. If we get santon he be our 3rd choice lb behind him and raylor, not arsed if simpson left, probz prefer it if he stayed because we need the numbers

    They just signed Luke Young.

Frankly if we're not backing down to wage demands from Barton and Nolan we certainly won't from Simpson, though I do think he's got a while to run yet.
