Yeah, I was being a bit facetious, to wind up Ides. I agree Spurs need to win something soon if they want to keep this squad together - and they'll have to strengthen anyway just to stay still; the dilema of the smaller club stepping up to tske on the big boys.

Kane, Ali, and Dier (and Rose) will want something to accompany their WC winners medals at some point.

MaCarthy just signed an extension so he remains number 1 for a couple of years we sell with 2 years left on his contract at a good price and
we have a ready made top keeper to promote to no 1
Seems like good business to me

We also get a keeper good enough to genuinely keep McCarthy on his toes regards his performances being good enough to keep his spot in the team.

Feel sorry for big frase really because let’s be honest he’s not actually done anything wrong just lost his way slightly and all of a sudden he’s an outcast who can’t be trusted with anything. He would walk into most bottom half PL clubs with genuine ease IMO, yet we only just survived relegation last season and he’s about to become in a scrap to even be 2nd spot for us. Football is a crazy old game. Feel for the bloke.

I'm not so sure anyone is to blame for the Forster situation. We signed our England International keeper to a new five year deal after he had performed admirably for us - hence him being an international. Honestly how many times have you seen a keeper lose his confidence and place permanently? It's a bit of a rarity is it not? And who is to say that he wouldn't regain it just as quickly if called upon? He always had his foibles but they were greatly outweighed by his qualities.

I've nothing against the bloke personally and hope that he gets a move that suits him, but there is no way back for him at Saints as he has clearly shown that he can't handle it at SMS although the idiots that abused him on a weekly basis should be ashamed as they are not true Saints fans.
I won't miss the nervous feeling I got every time a high ball entered our penalty area certainly.

In all honesty Forster was never really that good. An average PL goalkeeper who would pull off some very good reaction saves but apart from that he was lacking in every other department. Having good reactions and making some "wow" saves from time to time is the absolute minimum for a keeper at this level, it is like a midfielder being able to pass 10 yards

He was competant enough before his injury and crisis of confidence I think, but he needs to move on to rebuild his reputation elsewhere IMO.

Yeah he was competent, but I never understood why a lot of Saints fans seemed to build him up into some wonder keeper. Agree he needs a move and hopefully he can get back to what he was pre injury.

He'd walk in to most teams lineup outside of the top 4 providing the fans dont jump on his back and use him as the scapegoat for their downfall. Playing in a team with a settled defence, a manager who believes in him would also do wonders ....imagine that :)

I really don't think he'd walk into most clubs starting eleven. Average at best imo and has the agility of a sloth on ketamine.

Forster was great at reaction saves, but his distribution was ponderous and he didn’t come and collect with the necessary authority. Unfortunately, once the shot-stopping form deserted him, the overall package looked less attractive. When you look at a keepers performance, it can come down to 2 or 3 moments in a game which define hero or zero, which in turn can lead to plaudits or brickbats from the crowd, and the knock on in confidence. Can’t really feel sorry for a pro-football player in 2018, but it’s a shame if he leaves without the gratitude of the fans.

He was very good for a while, particularly after his injury, but I don’t think Forster’s dip in form is just down to confidence. He seriously lacked mobility towards the end of his time in the side and I think that’s ultimately a result of his size and build, something no amount of confidence will help.

Quite happy to have Gunn brought in. As good as McCarthy has been it’s also worth remembering he’s spent a lot of time out injured. High quality backup can only be a good thing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.........Fraser was and probably is still a good keeper..........He did lose form...no doubt........You don't lose being a first choice goalkeeper for your team and and back up for England for nothing...........When he needed a good manager to help him sadly there wasn't one. Given the chance he will regain his form but sadly I don't think it will be for us..........

I have often said that I think Fraser has a physical problem. His size helped him for a while...must be really hard to see round him....but his mobility is deteriorating.

Where would that decision leave, say, a young keeper (already at Saints!), who had a successful season-long loan period (1st choice!) in Scotland; and received many plaudits?
