Does anyone know what has actually happened to him? Or has he been quietly relieved of his duties and we will find out in 6 months time haha.

He’s been advising Joachim Löw on team selection and tactics.

Probably just staying out of the way because he knows he’s public enemy number one.

Not too keen on the ref to a buy back clause! Would saints accept that?

If the buyback is similar to the fee we paid, and city exercise the clause, we’ll effectively just be paying to develop Gunn!

On the plus side, 1 contract extension and perhaps 3 new players, and it’s only June. Nice work!

We really shouldn’t stress about a buy back clause from Man City.

Yeah, I'm not too fond of buy-back clauses either, unless there's a massive difference between the purchase/sale prices in the contract. Gunn for £15m with a £40m buyback clause? That's fine. For £15m with a £25m buyback? We'd be taking all of the risk with meagre rewards.

If they want to buy him back in two years for £25m then surely he's done well and we've had the rewards there?

Exactly. And being City they will always go for a flash sounding marquee signing.

Also I’m sure the buy back would be time limited, or at least only for the length of the initial contract, unless we’re incredibly stupid (hi Les!)

Sure, but the inherent danger is that they can exercise that right at any time, and GK is a particularly difficult position to fill. I doubt the buyback is that low, in which case it's not a big issue, but you're in an awkward position any time the planning aspect is taken out of your hands.

I doubt they can buy him back mid-season and they would probably have to give notice....all down to the detail. As you said goalkeepers can be hard to find, so a good one for 1, 2 or 3 years is a good deal. Better than having an ok one that we hope never to use.

City are far more likely to buy Neuer for a billion pounds than they are buy back a reserve keeper.
