I saw a load of Stoke fans when Hughes was appointed saying he would be a good fit as we had decent full backs could play his preferred formation of 3 at the back with wing backs. At Stoke they had Pieters at LB (trash) and converted a striker into a RB (Diouf), maybe Hughes just doesn't give a **** about RBs? Long could make a decent wing back with his work rate and pace.

 

Tadic has served us well but it is the right time for him to leave. Has been missing in games for too long now but admittedly was key in our late survival push.good to end on a high as he has been a reliable player overall. Wish him well and good to cash in rather than just let him get old and become worthless.

Wtf is going on today, is that 3 rumours?

Surely one our 2goalkeepers must be off.

 

Not necessarily I suppose, Gunn is young so might be being brought in as a possible McCarthy replacement when his contract runs out next year. As I said before ideally we sign a young keeper, someone to challenge McCarthy for the number one spot and sell Forster.

 

McCarthy may be happy to return as the Number 2 goal keeper and leave on a free next Summer. Gunn would be a great buy. Impressive at Norwich, and is very highly rated by the Man City staff. If all of this come off the board are doing all of the right things...

Not sure about this buy back clause, Gunn plays well and City can buy him back for the same price at any time?...can't really plan for the future like that.

 

Would rather see £15M spent elsewhere and offer McCarthy better terms to extend his contract. But hey things are certainly on the move.

 

Will be interesting to see who is and isn’t on the plane to China on Saturday.

 

Depends what the buy back clause is, usually it isn't the same amount is it? I know they put one in for Mooy when he went to Huddersfield at £20m and Hudders bought him for £10m. I'd assume we wouldn't agree to paying £15m then selling for £15m if City want him back.

 

But the main thing is that they can buy him back at any time..

 

Well if he gets to a stage where they want him back, and say we agree a buy back of double the fee (like Mooy) then we would struggle to keep him anyway from other big clubs so I don't see the big deal. The main issue I see is if he turns out incredible and City pay us £30m to sell him to someone else for more, but that isn't a huge issue either really.

I guess i'm old fashioned but I prefer to see a defence grow and play together for consecutive seasons personally.

When was the last time we had that? I genuinely can't remember.

I highly doubt City would be buying him back any time soon as well, would be with us for at least a couple of years if it happens.

 

Don't worry, it's just me, but he wouldn't feel like a true Saint to me.

 

Decent move for Tadic and the club. Felt he went stale for the last 2 seasons, but was our best player towards the end of last season to help keep the club in the premier. Obviously wanted to go back to Holland as said he had no interest in playing for another club in the Premier league or going to China. Cheers Dusan and good luck
