Thank you, England, for destroying Panama. What you witnessed was them is typical of Central American football and the rubbish we have to tolerate in CONCACAF. Unfortunately, the native referees tolerate far too much of the thuggery and foul play. Don't get me wrong, this has nothing to do with why the USMNT is sitting at home watching the competition in their boxers, but it is still an annoying aspect of playing football in our assigned region.

Ouch, that hurts. But hopefully Mexico will do what Mexico always does, lose in the round of 16. They have lost their fourth match in the last six World Cup competitions. I can't wait to say adios, El Tri.

Thursday is largely irrelevant now we’ve qualified. It’ll hardly be competitive never mind a”real test”

Word on the Rue is that Belgium aren't risking anyone on a yellow...

Or who is carrying a slight knock...

Or who looks like they may not be up for it...

    Or who's in the squad.

I'm hearing Rene Magritte in goal - a somewhat surreal decision, I feel.

Jacques Brel centre half - music to all Belgiums ears that decision.

Hercule Poirot in midfield - unlocking the conundrum that is the English defence with lateral thinking and honest to goodness hard work.

Tintin upfront - flicking in crosses unerringly.

I was just about to post If there's an 80s musical personality with a more stupid ****ing sounding crappo name than Steven "Tintin" Duffy then I've yet to hear it.

Then I remembered Oran "Juice" Jones.

    It will not be irrelevant
It will be so important that I will need to go to pub with Askew and others to watch it...so busy that we’ll have to get to said pub early...and so tense I’ll probably have to take Friday off work to wind down

...did you hear that Mrs Tash?...Sir Ben knows nowt

I don't think Belgium want to win the game.

They're talking about resting 10 players.
