Report provides details of asking price for Derby County transfer target Bristol City are hoping to recoup £10m from Bobby Reid’s sale this summer, with Derby County reportedly interested in luring the striker out of Ashton Gate. According to a report from the Bristol Post, the Robins are holding out for £10m from Reid’s sale, with Derby amongst a host of clubs interested in making a move this summer. West Bromwich Albion are in pole position to sign Reid, whilst AFC Bournemouth are amongst the Premier League sides interested. Frank Lampard’s Derby have lined Reid up as a possible replacement now, with the Rams planning for life without Matej Vydra, who is on Leeds United’s radar. The Robins won’t let the 25-year-old leave on the cheap this summer, after Reid enjoyed a particularly prolific 2017/18 campaign. The striker bagged 21 goals and seven assists across all competitions, helping Lee Johnson’s side to 11th in the Championship and the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. 19 of Reid’s goals came in the Championship, with the Bristol City ace finishing the season amongst the division’s most prolific strikers. Bristol City have moved to offer Reid a new long-term contract, in a bid to keep the striker at Ashton Gate, however, terms are yet to be agreed. The Verdict £10m for Reid seems about right, particularly in the current market and when you consider the year the 25-year-old has just had. It’ll be interesting to see who meets Bristol’s demands now, with Derby clearly lining Reid up as a replacement for 22-goal Vydra. The potential domino effect for Leeds making a move to Vydra could end up with Bristol City losing their marksmen. What is Reid worth? Goal scorers always cost more. To be honest if someone offered us 8 million id accept. I've got a horrible feeling it was a one season wonder, I still think he'll be a good player for any team in this division I just don't think he'll score 20+ again. 8 million with a massive sell on and loads of other bonus fees would be a good deal. No offence to Derby but they wont gain promotion next season, so if Reid went there and did continue his form, he'll be off again next summer. I'd honestly have Bryan as the better player/most potential but championship left back hardly demands a big fee unless they are under 21. I personally think with the way its going, Flint and Bryan will be lining up in our colours come August and Reid will be playing against us for another championship team.
I don't have a clue what kind of transfer activity is going to happen, but with it all needing to happen before the season starts, you'd expect a flurry of activity come the end of July. Maybe it's a bit like the chains you have when selling/buying a house - we won't sell A until we have B lined up, etc.
Interesting that Derby value Reid at £8m, yet they want £12.5m for Vydra, yes he scored a couple more, but to counter that Reid has a few years on his side. I think £10m is a fair price for Reid and we should cash in, there is no guarantee that last season wasn't a one off.
Take the money, clearly wants away,I think a bid of 10 million will happen. I prefer Matty Taylor in the Reid position. Vydra clearly not coming here Leeds red hot favourites for him.
Reid is only 9 months younger than Vydra. Also Vydra has done it at Championship level for more than one season, and finally Vydra has a year longer on his contract
I thought Derby were needing to tighten their belts? Granted, selling Vydra and getting Reid would likely leave them in a bit of credit, but not much...
I can believe that, though if Reid is truly a wanted man who has offers on the table, he'd be able to negotiate not insignificant wages himself. If he does move, I don't think it'll be to Derby.
I thought Reid’s main motivation for leaving was prem football, of course money helps and he may judge he’s have more chance of reaching the premier league with another club, but even if said other team wins promotion no guarantee they wouldn’t replace him once they got promoted . Out of preference ide keep Reid , offer as much as is possible within our wage structure, whilst not upsetting other team members , and sell Bryan . In reality though I think Reid and Bryan will go. Nothing is being said about Marlon, did I read somewhere he only had a year left on his contract too, or did I imagine this.
Buy Bryan as well and you can piss BCFC fans off for ever. That 6-0 will be nothing to that. Nothing!
