Good Morning and Happy Bielsa day everyone Marcelo Bielsa will hold his first Leeds Utd press confererence this afternoon at 2pm. The 62 year old only arrived in Leeds over the weekend, and it is not known whether he or one of his coaching staff will be taking the first training session? The presser will streamed live on Leedsunited.com. Further social media updates regarding the presser will appear here later In brief, these are the latest rumours over the weekend. Leeds have been linked to West Brom Keeper Boaz Myhill. The 35 yo shot stopper fell out of favour last season and is available on a free transfer. Thoughts? We have also been stronghly linked to Bournemouth 30 yo forward Lewis Grabban. He scored 20 times in 34 appearances last season for Sunderland and Villa. Good enough or not? Jerry Mbakogu may be coming to Leeds after all, at a cut price of 2m. It is thought he would be more of a squad player. If rumours are correct, Derby have now agreed to sell their prized asset Matej Vydra to Leeds, but only if they meet their 11m valuation. Thoughts? Lastly, according to the Daily Mail, Newcastle winger Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is set to leave the club when his contract expires shortly and is attracting interest from Leeds, Wolves and Watford. The winger is known for his impressive free style skills! What speciality skill would you like to see added to the Leeds Utd resume this forthcoming season? Putr them in order! Specialist penalty taker Long throw specialist Free kick taker Corner taker
Morning all. God knows what today will bring. My impression over the last week is that Bielsa is some kind of nutter, and we have the usual PR information from the club I.E. nothing, suggesting again that the club is being run by the marx brothers. I hope my impression is wrong.
I’m with Eric here... and would add I’d like to see someone who can pass, someone who can head and someone who can tackle. In ideal world I’d like someone who could do more than one of the above but hey this is Leeds, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Morning Ell and all. Just waiting for some exciting news from ER? (YOU CAN WAIT FOR NOTHING I HEAR YOU SAY) Think someone has already said it, but a prolific goal scorer would be ideal.
Good morning everyone.... Hopefully we see some action on the signings front this week. You read so many different stuff that it's hard to get a handle on what's going on. One minute Vydra is at Elland Road and the next minute we can't afford him. Take this Jerry Mbakogu as an example.....we shouldn't even be looking at him because of his record. We already have Roberts who by all accounts is decent although needs game time and experience. How much we did pay for him...£2 million? Forget the quantity because as we all know, it's quality we need now. Look at some of the results over the weekend....Kane delivers for England. Buttler does the same. We desperately need those one or two quality additions to scare opposite teams coming to Elland Road. Spunking a few million on the likes of Mbakogu and then coming out and saying we can't afford Hernandez or Vydra (if that's what happens) is a false economy and would make me question what we have learned from the last few seasons.
Good morning everyone. Been looking forward to today for what seems forever, should be a very interesting presser, where he will lay out his plans for us (let's just hope it's not a let down after all the hype over the last month or two). as for specialist skills, agree with Eric here as it's imperative with have a quality finisher Matej Vydra would be perfect, but the 11m price tag might have put us off,but we shall see. Free kick specialist would be great as so many goals these days are scored from free kicks in and around the box, seem to remember Garry mcAllister was good at these, also for taking a descent corner. One thing you don't see much of these days is the near post corner, where the taker puts it onto the head of someone at the near post, who flicks it on for an oncoming attacker,so free kick/corner taker would be another great acquisition for me. followed by long throw and penalty taker. Think also if we play this system of Bielsa's,a few more penalties will come our way,as were not used to being in the oppositions penalty area to much, over the last few seasons. I think next season will be three quality signings for the 20m,and a mixture of present team & youngsters coming from the under 23's.
Evening Eric, Thats a given. I'm asking to add or improve a skill to help enable us to score more goals
Morning Milky, by adding one of the skills on the list, it will improve our scoring rate, but which one is most important?
But looking at your list of skills - I would say a later day Peter Lorimer would fit the bill and cover those desired skills ?
Morning SW, yes, 20m for 3 big signings, a couple of experienced loanees and a few of the u23's making the grade. I'd settle for that
