With all that's been said about balancing the books does anyone really expect Sunderland to go out and spend 10 million on a striker. We've already heard he has to sell before he can buy, get wages off the books etc.

Unless Sunderland are playing a canny game, at this late stage no one is getting cheaper in the transfer market until January.

I think we will get a journeyman forward at best (hope I'm wrong)

Has Short decided enough is enough investment wise/
Has Bruce been given a budget and that's it?
Is Ellis losing faith in Bruce?
Bent has not been replaced, only at the start of last Season we bolstered Bent with Gyan. Does anyone see a player as Good as Bent being brought in.....?

what happened to the henderson money? weve only spent about 34mill if you niclude january and have continued to sell players (e.g. Malbranque) so surely there must be 10mill left in the kitty?

No, If you want European Football which is what Quinn and short said they wanted, then you have to spend some cash, Man United team was 147 milion with subs it was 225 miilion and thats with 5 players brought through the ranks, Man Cities was something like 250 million even liverpool and spurs will be over 100million, Now I am not saying he has to spend that much, but if you want to break into the top 6-7, you have to speculate to accumalate (or get lucky in a cup run)

Has Bruce been given a budget and that's it?

Probably not, he didnt with Gyan, so why should this year be any different, if Short and Quinn think a striker wil be value for money, Short wil stump up the cash.

Is Ellis losing faith in Bruce?

I dont understand this, Quinn and Short both know Bruce had a bad time ast year, Quinn even said it himself that they never heled him much with the players we had, if he was loosing faith, he wouldnt have already give him 26 million or whatever it is, and he would have sacked him by now, He is American, and does take overs all the time, do you really think he would be soft, he puts families on the dole all the time and probably doent even bat an eyelid. When Short has lost faith in bruce he wont be the Sunderland Manager anymore, thats for damn sure.

Bent has not been replaced, only at the start of last Season we bolstered Bent with Gyan. Does anyone see a player as Good as Bent being brought in.....?

I am not having a go at Bent here just because he ****ed off, but was he realy all that special? yes he scored goals for us 24 in his first season, but he didnt do much else for the team around him in his play, he is what we used to call at school a lurcher, ok he may hve had a bit more to his play than that, but not a lot.

What we need is someone that can get more involved in the forward positions, and score 15-20 goals a season, and be a foil for Gyan to get 15-20 goals a season, and our midfielders to chip in with a few from knockdowns, Problem is there isnt that many of those about, I dont much about PDC, i know he scored for fun but not sure on size, strength, passing, assists etc, he may be ideal, he may not unti we see him play, but its better than no one or the 2 that have been talked about today.

so yes i do think we will get someone in, or it wont be for the lack of trying (the players may turn us down), who it will be though, i dont hve a bloody clue as there is no one out there apart from bent who does what Bent does, and there is probably only Drogba that i can think of that does what I said we needed.

I firmly believe we’ll get an internationally proven goal scorer. Bruce by many commentators on this board would rather run over their mother in law than see Bruce continue as manger. The man’s not as thick as many make out & I’m sure that & Mr’s Quinn & Short likewise. So rather than get the guaranteed boot by not having another goal scorer pre-Christmas, do you really think he’ll not do something about it in the next 24 hours?

I don't think money is an issue, Do some research on Short he just made 4billion. If Bruce finds the right player who would come within our wage structure the money will be available.

Well we were gonna splash 9 - 10 million on Nzogbia but his wage demands were too high so id say yes we should still have some money to play with and if the board wana push for europe then there gonna have to get the cheque book out!

Yes I think Bent was special, he scored goals. Did he Gel with Gyan, probably not, with Kenwyne perhaps more so. However The best I have seen Gyan play was with Wellbeck, against Chelsea, for one glorius game we looked like world beaters. However Wellbeck got injured and then boom Gyan hasn't looked so good ever since....?
