The most surprising aspect so far has been that the South American fans are outnumbering the Europeans. How? Why?
I had a bet yesterday a treble Serbia, Germany & Brazil, believe it or not Serbia was the team I was worried about
Possibly because the Europeans don't particularly like or trust the Russians. The South American fans don't care and just want to party. Footnote - Not trying to upset anyone, just saying it how it is.
True. I was also very surprised by the level of Mexican support in the Germany game. For me it seemed much more than the Germans, and this is at the begininig of the match. Are these residents in Europe, or have they travelled?
Although many people in Mexico are poor, a lot are very wealthy and can presumably afford to travel. In a similar vein, I read someone interviewed arriving in Russia from Peru saying they didn't understand how so many Peruvians could afford to go to Russia because they were such a poor country.
Sweden 1 S Korea 0. Boring and poor quality game. Hard to see either team going beyond the Group stage.
Both have to play Germany and Mexico. It's hard to see Germany playing as badly as yesterday, and Mexico are on a high. I'd certainly say SK are out (they won't get six points) but Sweden will give themselves a great chance if they can force a draw in their next game, against Germany on Saturday. In the first game, it's all about getting the win, and they managed it.
Belgium putting a Vintage disjointed England performance so far. Misplaced passes and aimless Hollywood balls
Just returned home and I see the Belgians are winning 1-0. I’ll will watch the match out, then walk the dog, and then the watch the England match. The only hard decision will be the choice of which beer to open.
World Cup 2018: Flies plague England's build-up in Volgograd Of all the problems England fans and players thought they would face in Russia, a plague of flies was not one of them. Gareth Southgate's side face Tunisia in their opening World Cup game on Monday (19:00 BST) in the south west city of Volgograd. Swarms of the small flying insects have caused chaos for fans, locals and the media, while England players will be doused in fly repellent before taking to the pitch at the Volgograd Arena. "They are on your face, stick to your lips, get inside your nostrils, your ears and your hair," said BBC Sport's Natalie Pirks. "I've had to debug myself at bedtime as you find dead ones you've splatted in the strangest of places." 'There are billions of them' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44519710 Come on England
cringe making BBC intro to the England game coverage, imagining we have won the competition. Jinxed us, ****ers.
Wait for the headlines. I'll bet the Russians have genetically modified them to only go for the succulent English and, using their insider knowledge, specially selected Stalingrad as the 1st venue for England to play in.
Wtf is going on, I thought it was agreed that this is a promising group and we should have higher expectations in 2022, but suddenly we have great players, the perfect preparation, no one can stop us. Nuts. Given what I have seen from other teams I will be happy with a 1-0 win, be delighted if that is combined with a good performance and won’t be too worried with a draw. Interesting to see how we play Belgium - stop De Bruyne and Hazard or go at them. I hope it’s the latter, they don’t look special at the back.
